This initiative aims to improve biodiversity conservation financing through comprehensive methodologies and resource mobilization strategies. The volunteer will work closely with the Head of Climate Adaptation and Biodiversity and the Programme Manager, contributing to various tasks such as analyzing biodiversity conservation proposals, preparing training modules, and organizing stakeholder engagements. The position requires collaboration with diverse stakeholders to develop country-specific solutions that promote sustainable development and biodiversity conservation in India.
Duties and Responsibilities: The UN Volunteer will be responsible for a range of tasks including: supporting the submission and analysis of biodiversity conservation proposals to corporates; contributing to the preparation of training modules on biodiversity conservation; organizing sensitization meetings with corporates; facilitating the scale-up of FinTech solutions for biodiversity; compiling good practices on FinTech for nature conservation; preparing nature-related reporting templates; designing training programs for environmental auditors; coordinating consultations and training programs with various stakeholders; reviewing consultant work and monitoring deliverables; conducting background research on project activities; identifying and documenting best practices; and attending webinars conducted by the global team. The volunteer will also perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisors.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should possess strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. They should demonstrate adaptability, creativity, and professionalism. A genuine commitment to the principles of voluntary engagement and the UN core values is essential. The role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders effectively.
Educational Background: A degree in environmental science, biodiversity conservation, sustainable development, or a related field is required. Candidates with advanced degrees or specialized training in these areas will be preferred. Knowledge of biodiversity finance and conservation strategies will be an asset.
Experience: Candidates should have prior experience in project management, biodiversity conservation, or related fields. Experience working with governmental or non-governmental organizations, particularly in the context of biodiversity finance or environmental sustainability, is highly desirable. Familiarity with corporate social responsibility initiatives and stakeholder engagement processes will be beneficial.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in Hindi or other regional languages will be considered an advantage, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and communities.
Additional Notes: This is a national UN Volunteer assignment based in New Delhi, India. The contract duration is specified, with the possibility of extensions based on funding availability and performance. The volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The position offers a monthly Voluntary Living Allowance (VLA) of INR 51,969.20, along with other benefits such as relocation costs, exit allowance, and comprehensive health and life insurance coverage. Leave entitlements include annual leave, sick leave, learning leave, and maternity/paternity leave as per UNV conditions of service.
