Job Overview:
The intern will assist the CHAI China country team and relevant global disease program teams in developing and implementing project activities as outlined by specific partnership frameworks, work plans, and budgets. The role involves supporting both public and private sector partners in developing methodologies, tools, processes, and key performance indicators that are relevant for analyses, project management, and achieving goals. The intern will lead or support data collection, policy research, interviews, industry analysis, financial modeling, and report drafting to generate evidence-based policy and business recommendations. Additionally, the intern will assist with internal and external communications, including managing newsletters and social media presence, and provide strategic recommendations for new program development, project management, communication, and process improvement.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist the CHAI China country team and global disease program teams in developing and implementing project activities as required by partnership frameworks, work plans, and budgets.
  • Collaborate with public and private sector partners to develop methodologies, tools, processes, and key performance indicators for project management and goal fulfillment.
  • Lead and support data collection, policy research, interviews, industry analysis, financial modeling, and report drafting to provide evidence-based recommendations.
  • Manage internal and external communications, including newsletters and social media updates.
  • Provide strategic recommendations for new program development, project management, communication, and process improvement.
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed to support the team and organization.

Required Qualifications:
  • Current student in business, economics, public health, political sciences, or a related field.
  • Fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese, with proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in a professional setting. Native Chinese speakers preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Strong analytical background and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively in diverse cultural settings.
  • Ability to work independently without extensive structural or operational support.
  • Strong sense of ownership and responsiveness to communications.
  • Experience working and living in China is preferred.

  • Past internship experience in finance, consulting, policy research, or the healthcare sector is a plus. 1
  • Experience working and living in low-income countries or resource-limited settings is a plus.

Educational Background:
The position requires candidates to be current students pursuing degrees in business, economics, public health, political sciences, or related fields. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of health systems and the socio-economic factors affecting public health.

Experience:
Candidates should have some level of experience, preferably through internships or academic projects, in finance, consulting, policy research, or the healthcare sector. Experience living and working in China is also preferred, as it provides valuable context for the role. Additionally, experience in low-income countries or resource-limited settings is advantageous, as it aligns with CHAI's mission and operational focus.

Languages:
Fluency in both English and Mandarin Chinese is mandatory, with a strong preference for native Chinese speakers. Proficiency in these languages is crucial for effective communication in a professional setting, particularly in the context of public health and international development.
