Job Overview:
The Project Support Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the KOICA-funded project aimed at integrating Venezuelan refugees and migrants into Peruvian host communities. This position involves a variety of functions including project development, donor liaison, reporting, communications, and private sector engagement. The officer will work under the supervision of the Senior Programme Coordinator and the Project Officer, providing daily technical and operational support to ensure effective implementation of the project. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including NGOs, government institutions, and the private sector, to facilitate timely delivery of project activities. The officer will also assist in monitoring and evaluation exercises, ensuring that key highlights are communicated effectively. This position is exclusively open to nationals of the Republic of Korea, emphasizing the importance of cultural and contextual understanding in the execution of project activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Project Support Officer include:
  • Providing daily technical and operational support for the KOICA-funded project, ensuring effective backstopping and coordination.
  • Assisting in the collection, maintenance, and analysis of project indicator data through designated platforms and monitoring tools.
  • Supporting monitoring and evaluation exercises and sharing key highlights with the Project Officer.
  • Liaising with implementing partners to ensure timely delivery of activities.
  • Coordinating and organizing follow-up meetings with IOM and/or KOICA teams at a technical level.
  • Preparing draft progress reports, donor reports, meeting minutes, and briefing notes for internal and external reporting.
  • Supporting the design and drafting of project proposals in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
  • Compiling and systematizing data for communication and outreach activities.
  • Identifying and mapping potential funding sources to diversify IOM’s resource base. 1
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Project Officer.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Project Support Officer position include:
  • A Master’s degree in international relations, political or social sciences, development studies, or a related field from an accredited academic institution; or a university degree in the above fields with two years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in project management development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation is required.
  • Experience in drafting proposals, donor reports, or partnership briefs is required.
  • Work experience with UN and international agencies, as well as international or local NGOs, is an advantage.
  • Experience in communication, visibility, and outreach activities is also advantageous.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in international relations, political or social sciences, development studies, or a related field from an accredited academic institution. Alternatively, a university degree in the aforementioned fields combined with two years of relevant professional experience is acceptable. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to effectively contribute to the project.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have experience in project management development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. This experience is crucial as it ensures that the officer can effectively support the project’s objectives and deliverables. Additionally, candidates should have experience in drafting proposals and donor reports, which is essential for maintaining communication with stakeholders and securing funding. Work experience with UN and international agencies, as well as local NGOs, is considered an advantage, as it provides insight into the operational dynamics of such organizations.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Spanish is required for this position, both oral and written. This is essential for effective communication with diverse stakeholders involved in the project. A working knowledge of Korean is highly desirable, given the project's funding source, and proficiency in another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, or Russian) is considered an advantage. Language proficiency will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

Additional Notes:
The position is classified as a special short-term ungraded contract with an initial duration of six months, with the possibility of extension based on project needs and funding confirmation. The role is open exclusively to nationals of the Republic of Korea, emphasizing the importance of cultural and contextual understanding in the execution of project activities. Internationally recruited professional staff are required to be mobile, and any offer made to the candidate is subject to funding confirmation. The selection process may be used to staff similar positions in various duty stations, and recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in a similar position for a period of 24 months. Candidates must be medically fit for appointment and meet any residency or visa requirements.
