The Infrastructure department of IFC is a strategic priority that supports the World Bank Group's aim of improving access to efficient, reliable, and affordable infrastructure for the poor in emerging markets. The department is responsible for originating and managing IFC's investment activities across various sectors, including Power Generation, Transport, Telecommunications, and Water.
Job Overview: The position of Extended Term Consultant (ETC) as an Investment Analyst in Infrastructure at IFC involves providing analytical, research, and professional support to Investment Officers. The role requires a solid understanding of fundamental business concepts and practices, as well as the ability to evaluate complex situations and produce various written outputs. The candidate will be involved in creating and analyzing financial models, structuring new transactions, and conducting industry and market research to support IFC's business development efforts. The position is dynamic and requires the ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines under pressure. The successful candidate will also participate in investment negotiations and monitor compliance with IFC's financial, environmental, and legal requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Investment Analyst include:
Creating and analyzing financial models, with a preference for candidates who have demonstrated project finance modeling experience.
Participating in the structuring of new transactions and supporting Investment Officers in their efforts.
Reviewing and analyzing historical and projected financial statements to assess the viability of potential investments.
Conducting industry, integrity (KYC), and market research, including pricing benchmarks, to assist in IFC's business development efforts.
Elaborating pitchbooks and proposals for clients to present investment opportunities.
Reviewing company information and preparing reports on periodic financial statements and project progress reports submitted by clients.
Preparing documentation for IFC's internal processes to ensure compliance and thoroughness.
Participating in investment negotiations and providing analytical support throughout the process.
Actively monitoring investments in portfolio companies, ensuring compliance with IFC's financial, environmental, insurance, and legal requirements.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably with a concentration in Finance, Business, or Economics. Additionally, experience in a financial institution, investment banking, private equity fund, consulting firm, or other relevant sectors is required, with a preference for candidates who have at least 2 years of proven experience in analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">financial analysis. Knowledge of infrastructure-related projects, such as transport, power, telecom, and water and sanitation, is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, sound business judgment, and the ability to work successfully in multicultural teams. Proficiency in quantitative financial analysis and modeling is essential, along with teamwork skills and a proactive approach to tasks.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, ideally with a focus on Finance, Business, or Economics. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of financial analysis and investment structuring in the infrastructure sector.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have relevant experience in a financial institution, investment banking, private equity, consulting, or similar sectors. A minimum of 2 years of experience is preferred, particularly in roles that involve financial analysis and investment evaluation. Experience with infrastructure-related projects is also a significant advantage, as it aligns with the responsibilities of the role.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization.
