Job Overview:
The GBV Programme Coordinator will play a crucial role in overseeing the implementation and management of gender-based violence (GBV) programs across Yemen. This position requires a strong focus on partnerships and coordination with various stakeholders, including government authorities, UN agencies, NGOs, and local communities. The coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that GBV issues are integrated into broader humanitarian and development frameworks, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of interventions. The role demands a strategic approach to program development, implementation, and monitoring, with an emphasis on building local capacities and ensuring sustainability of services. The coordinator will also be expected to advocate for the integration of GBV prevention and response into national policies and development plans, thereby influencing resource mobilization and policy dialogue.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The GBV Programme Coordinator will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
  • Supporting the implementation and monitoring of UNFPA GBV programs, ensuring alignment with global standards and best practices.
  • Conducting field assessments to identify needs and gaps in GBV services, and integrating findings into program planning.
  • Developing partnerships with relevant stakeholders to enhance the effectiveness of GBV interventions.
  • Leading the development of a national GBV Case Management mechanism in collaboration with UN entities and NGOs.
  • Coordinating training sessions for service providers on GBV prevention and response, ensuring a survivor-centered approach.
  • Monitoring and documenting the impact of GBV programs, preparing reports and sharing lessons learned with stakeholders.
  • Providing technical support and capacity development to local authorities and service providers to transition from humanitarian to sustainable service delivery models.
  • Advocating for the integration of GBV into national development strategies and mobilizing resources to sustain investments in GBV and SRHR.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced degree in social work, public health, international relations, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of experience in reproductive health and gender issues, particularly in humanitarian or development contexts, is required. Candidates should have experience in humanitarian coordination and a solid understanding of the roles and responsibilities of humanitarian actors. Knowledge of reproductive health and protection issues in emergencies is essential, along with program management experience. Candidates should demonstrate strong advocacy skills and the ability to mobilize resources effectively.

Educational Background:
An advanced degree in social work, public health, community health, international relations, law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">international law, human rights, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of GBV issues and the necessary interventions to address them effectively.

Experience:
The position requires at least 5 years of relevant experience in reproductive health and gender issues, particularly in international humanitarian or development settings. Candidates should have a proven track record in humanitarian coordination and program management, as well as experience in working with diverse stakeholders in complex environments. Familiarity with the humanitarian reform process and the roles of various humanitarian actors is also essential.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position. Advanced Arabic language skills are considered an asset, as they will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance the effectiveness of program implementation.
