Job Posting Organization: Solidarités International (SI) opened its mission in Yemen in 2017, establishing its coordination in Aden. Since then, SI has expanded its geographical scope of intervention, establishing offices in Al Mokha, Taizz City, and Marib, along with an operational presence in Abyan Governorate. The country office is located in Aden city in the South, supported by two regional field offices (one on the Red Sea West Coast and one in Central Taiz governorate) and a sub-base in Marib Governorate. The mission comprises approximately 9 expatriates and about 60 national staff members. The objectives for the mission in 2026 include expanding into hard-to-reach areas and developing qualitative interventions that respond to emergency and protracted needs while enhancing resilience.
Job Overview: The Grants and Reporting Manager position is a critical role within the coordination team, reporting directly to the Deputy CountryDirector for programs. The successful candidate will work closely with both program and support departments at the coordination level, as well as with base teams. The ideal candidate will be an effective task manager, adept at setting priorities, and a proactive communicator. The role requires excellent English writing and analytical skills. The Grants and Reporting Manager will oversee the management of grants for the country office, ensuring compliance with donor regulations and supporting external communications for various audiences. This position is vital for ensuring the mission produces high-quality and timely reports, including assessments, proposals, and other documents shared externally.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Grants and Reporting Manager will be responsible for several key functions: contributing to the mission’s strategic development; monitoring and identifying funding opportunities that align with SI's country and global strategy; overseeing the compilation of timely and high-quality proposals, reports, and contract modification requests for submission to donors and consortium partners; ensuring compliance with donor procedures and providing capacity building for new and existing staff on internal accountability tools and donor procedures; proactively following up on donor contractual obligations from contracting to closing and archiving, ensuring that all obligations are known and understood by relevant staff and departments; and centralizing and preparing relevant documentation for external audits and audit report archiving.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in a related sector such as international relations, development studies, media-communication, or a similar field. Additionally, candidates should have at least 2 years of relevant experience in grant management within emergency contexts. Previous successful experience in developing projects and writing proposals for emergency donors is essential. Knowledge of main donor regulations and priorities, particularly those of ECHO, BHA, and OCHA, is required. Experience in supporting emergency responses in tense security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security contexts and remote settings is also necessary, with a preference for candidates who have experience in the Middle East. Candidates should demonstrate excellent analytical and writing skills, strong communication abilities, and the capacity to coordinate with individuals from various sectors and departments. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage competing urgent requests and priorities are crucial. Flexibility and the ability to handle pressure are also important attributes.
Educational Background: A university degree in a relevant field such as international relations, development studies, media-communication, or a related discipline is required for this position.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in grant management, particularly in emergency contexts. Experience in developing projects and writing proposals for emergency donors is essential, along with knowledge of donor regulations and priorities. Experience in the Middle East is highly appreciated, and familiarity with the Yemeni crisis is considered a major asset.
Languages: English language proficiency is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in French will be considered an advantage, while Arabic language skills are also seen as an asset.
Additional Notes: The position is a salaried role with a starting salary of 2,310 euros gross per month (2,100 € plus a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly) and a monthly per diem of 750 USD. It is important to note that the salary is not negotiable with SI. The contract is for a short-term duration of 12 months, renewable, with a desired start date of February 202
During the assignment, a system of alternation between work and time-off is implemented, allowing for breaks after two months spent in the field. Expatriates will receive a 7-day break during the 2nd, 4th, 8th, and 10th months, with 850 USD allocated by Solidarités for these breaks. Expatriates benefit from a comprehensive insurance package that covers all healthcare expenses, including medical, surgical, dental, and ophthalmological costs, as well as repatriation. Essential vaccinations and antimalarial treatment costs are refunded. The security situation in Aden is volatile, with risks associated with political tensions and armed groups. SI has developed strict security rules that applicants must be prepared to follow. Living conditions include a shared coordination office and guesthouse, with security rules in place, including a curfew. Expatriates have access to limited amenities such as supermarkets, a gym, a restaurant, and beaches. The guesthouse is described as comfortable by Middle Eastern standards.
