IOM Indonesia focuses on several thematic areas, including Counter-Trafficking, Labour Migration, Social Inclusion, Disasters, Climate and Resilience, Immigration and Border Governance, Refugee Care, Migration Health, Migration Governance, and Resettlement and Voluntary Returns.
Job Overview: The Senior Project Associate will play a crucial role in supporting the conceptualization, coordination, and implementation of IOM’s Migration, Business, and Human Rights (MBHR) Programme in Indonesia. This position aligns with the UN Guiding Principles of Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) which emphasize the need to 'Protect, Respect, and Remedy' the rights of individuals, particularly migrant workers. The MBHR programme aims to ensure the full respect for human and labour rights of migrant workers, especially vulnerable groups, within supply chains across Asia. The Senior Project Associate will work closely with various stakeholders, including governmental authorities, civil society organizations, and private sector entities, to promote safe, fair, and ethical labour migration practices. This role requires a proactive approach to project management, including planning, monitoring, and reporting on project activities, as well as engaging in capacity-building initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Senior Project Associate will be responsible for a variety of tasks including: assisting in the planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of project activities; compiling, summarizing, analyzing, and presenting information/data on specific project topics; monitoring budget implementation and proposing necessary adjustments; acting as the focal point for administrative coordination of project implementation; drafting status reports and correspondence on project issues; organizing meetings, workshops, and training sessions; responding to complex information requests; maintaining effective liaison and coordination with local authorities and stakeholders; monitoring the work of implementing partners; providing inputs for the development of Standard Operations Procedures (SOP) and concept papers; and supervising other staff as assigned. The role also involves performing other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree from an accredited institution in Political or Social Sciences, Business Administration, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or a related field, along with four years of relevant work experience. Alternatively, candidates with a school diploma and six years of relevant work experience will also be considered. It is essential that candidates have a good understanding of migration policies and issues, as well as experience in project implementation, donor liaison, operations, administration, capacity building, and monitoring and evaluation. Experience in liaising with governmental authorities and working with migrant workers or vulnerable groups is highly advantageous.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a university degree from an accredited university in relevant fields such as Political or Social Sciences, Business Administration, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, or Law. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Candidates with a school diploma may also apply if they have the requisite work experience.
Experience: The position requires candidates to be Indonesian nationals with a strong knowledge of migration policies and programming in Indonesia. Professional experience in project implementation, donor liaison, operations, administration, capacity building, and monitoring and evaluation is preferred. Candidates should also have experience working in a labour migration context, particularly in migrant workers' protection and empowerment programming, and should be familiar with liaising with governmental authorities and various organizations.
Languages: Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia is required for this position, both oral and written. IOM’s official languages include English, French, and Spanish, but for this role, proficiency in English and Bahasa Indonesia is mandatory. Candidates should be able to prepare and present clear and concise technical reports in both languages.
