Job Overview:
The National Consultant-Peacebuilding Architect, Community Based Reintegration position is designed to support the UNDP's mission in Somalia, particularly in the area of peacebuilding and community reintegration. The consultant will be responsible for developing strategies and frameworks that facilitate the reintegration of communities affected by conflict. This role requires a deep understanding of the socio-political landscape in Somalia and the ability to engage with various stakeholders, including local communities, government entities, and international organizations. The consultant will work closely with UNDP teams to ensure that the reintegration processes are inclusive, sustainable, and aligned with national policies and international best practices. The assignment is expected to last for a period of 9 days within a two-month timeframe, emphasizing the need for timely and effective delivery of services.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be tasked with several key responsibilities, including but not limited to: conducting assessments of community needs and capacities, designing and implementing community-based reintegration programs, facilitating workshops and training sessions for community leaders and stakeholders, collaborating with local and national authorities to ensure alignment with government policies, monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of reintegration initiatives, providing recommendations for policy improvements, and preparing detailed reports on progress and outcomes. The consultant will also be expected to engage in continuous dialogue with community members to foster trust and cooperation throughout the reintegration process.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in peacebuilding, conflict resolution, or a related field. A proven track record of working in post-conflict settings, particularly in Somalia or similar contexts, is essential. The consultant should demonstrate excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in diverse teams. Familiarity with UNDP's operational procedures and frameworks will be considered an asset. Additionally, candidates should have experience in project management and the ability to navigate complex political environments effectively.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a Master's degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, International Relations, Social Sciences, or a related field is required. Candidates with additional certifications or training in peacebuilding or community development will be viewed favorably. Academic qualifications should be complemented by practical experience in the field, demonstrating a solid understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of peacebuilding.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in peacebuilding, community development, or a related area. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in conflict-affected regions, is highly desirable. The consultant should have a demonstrated ability to manage projects effectively and deliver results under tight deadlines. Previous experience in Somalia or similar contexts will be a significant advantage, as it indicates familiarity with local dynamics and challenges.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Somali or other local languages is highly desirable, as it will facilitate better communication with community members and stakeholders. Proficiency in additional languages may also be beneficial, depending on the specific context of the assignment.

Additional Notes:
This position is classified as an individual contractor role, and the contract duration is for a short-term assignment of 9 days within a two-month period. The consultant will be expected to work full-time during this assignment, with flexibility in scheduling to accommodate community engagements and stakeholder meetings. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and in line with UNDP's remuneration policies.
