Job Overview: The METAL Project Manager will be an integral part of the METAL team, which is responsible for delivering products that support the day-to-day implementation of CRRD Programs. This role involves the collection, management, and visualization of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that are essential for higher-level decision-making. The Project Manager will coordinate all METAL software development projects, implementing Agile Project Management methodologies to efficiently manage program workstreams. This includes supporting product backlog management, sprint planning, and task management. The Project Manager will also coordinate the planning and execution of requirements gathering, analysis, solution design, development, and testing. A key aspect of this role is to ensure that METAL is a reliable partner for other business units by establishing clear project scopes, goals, timelines, resources, and risks, while sharing regular status reports. The position reports to the Program Technology at Scale Lead and requires close collaboration with METAL Product Managers and Developers.
Duties and Responsibilities: The METAL Project Manager will be responsible for creating and maintaining an Integrated Project Plan, which involves developing and continually updating detailed program management plans and work breakdown structures based on project objectives and scope. The Project Manager will manage project status reporting by preparing status reports that communicate project scope, goals, achievements, budget, risks, status, change requests, and critical issues to clients and project teams. Additionally, the Project Manager will provide work direction and leadership to assigned projects, including scheduling, assignment of work, and review of project efforts. They will identify project resource requirements and staff assignments, ensuring staff availability and updating the project plan with work assignments. Risk management is also a critical duty, requiring the maintenance of documentation for identified risks and mitigation strategies, as well as proactive gathering and updating of risk status. Overall project administration will include participation in program team meetings, documentation of meeting minutes, tracking issues, decisions, and action items, and following up between meetings to drive issues to closure. The Project Manager may also perform other duties or special projects as required or assigned.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have successfully managed complex programs with technology components and possess six or more years of project management experience in IT or software, ideally related to humanitarian service delivery or information systems. Experience working with Jira is preferred, as is experience in an international NGO or global humanitarian organization in a developing country.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s Degree is required for this position. Additionally, project and/or program management certification such as PMP or CSM is preferred, indicating a formal understanding of project management principles and practices.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of six years of project management experience, particularly in IT or software environments. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing complex programs that involve technology components, ideally within the context of humanitarian service delivery or information systems.
