Job Overview: The position of Team Lead for the Multilingual Website Synchronization Project is part of the Tech Volunteers for Resilience (Tech4R) programme, which aims to mobilize skilled digital volunteers to create open-source solutions that enhance disaster resilience. The primary focus of this role is to coordinate a team of volunteer translators, editors, and web developers to synchronize multilingual content on the GEF SGP Uzbekistan website. This website serves as a knowledge hub for environmental projects and community-led initiatives, but it currently faces challenges related to language discrepancies and accessibility. The Team Lead will ensure that all language versions of the website are aligned, providing consistent messaging and improved navigation while adhering to accessibility standards. This role requires effective communication with UNDP GEF SGP focal points and the Tech4R coordination-team" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">coordination team, as well as the ability to support documentation, testing, and guidance materials for future content management. This is an unpaid volunteer assignment, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects that support disaster resilience and community development.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Team Lead will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
Coordinate the efforts of volunteer translators, editors, and web designers to synchronize multilingual content across the GEF SGP Uzbekistan website.
Oversee the consistency of navigation, terminology, and layout across the Uzbek, Russian, and English versions of the website.
Ensure that all content complies with accessibility standards and is designed responsively for various devices.
Facilitate effective communication between UNDP GEF SGP focal points and the Tech4R coordination team to ensure alignment and collaboration.
Support the documentation process, including the creation of testing protocols and guidance materials for future content management.
Actively participate in team meetings and contribute to the overall success of the Tech4R programme by sharing insights and best practices.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate for the Team Lead position should possess the following qualifications:
Strong organizational and leadership skills to effectively manage a team of volunteers.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in multiple languages (Uzbek, Russian, and English).
Familiarity with web development and design principles, particularly in relation to multilingual websites.
Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices for web content.
Experience in project management, particularly in a volunteer or non-profit context, is highly desirable.
A commitment to the values and mission of the UNDP and a passion for contributing to community development and disaster resilience.
Educational Background: Candidates should have a relevant educational background, ideally in fields such as international development, communications, web design, or a related area. A degree or equivalent experience in project management or volunteer coordination would be advantageous. Additionally, familiarity with environmental issues and sustainable development practices would be beneficial.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have prior experience in managing teams or projects, particularly in a volunteer or non-profit setting. Experience in web development, content management, or digital communication is also essential. Candidates should demonstrate a track record of successfully coordinating projects that involve multiple stakeholders and managing diverse teams of volunteers.
Languages: Fluency in Uzbek, Russian, and English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages would be considered a valuable asset, enhancing the ability to communicate effectively with a broader audience and ensuring the inclusivity of the project.
Additional Notes: This is an unpaid volunteer assignment, and candidates should be aware that it does not constitute employment.
