Job Overview: The position of Consultant Chargé de la Valorisation des Nouveaux Mecanismes de Financement involves the development and enhancement of new financing mechanisms within the framework of the elaboration of the forest economy plan. The consultant is expected to provide expert advice and innovative solutions that will facilitate the mobilization of financial resources for sustainable forest management and economic development in Cameroon. This role requires a deep understanding of financial mechanisms, environmental policies, and the socio-economic context of the forestry sector. The consultant will work closely with various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and local communities, to ensure that the financing strategies are aligned with national priorities and sustainable development goals.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for conducting a comprehensive analysis of existing financing mechanisms and identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement. Key duties include:
Assessing the current financial landscape related to forest management in Cameroon.
Developing innovative financing strategies that can be implemented to support the forest economy plan.
Engaging with stakeholders to gather insights and foster collaboration on financing initiatives.
Preparing detailed reports and presentations on findings and recommendations.
Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of implemented financing strategies.
Ensuring compliance with UNDP policies and procedures throughout the project lifecycle.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong background in finance, economics, or a related field, with proven experience in developing financing mechanisms for environmental projects. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate excellent analytical skills, strong communication abilities, and a capacity to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. Familiarity with the forestry sector and sustainable development practices is essential. Candidates should also have a track record of successful project management and the ability to deliver results under tight deadlines.
Educational Background: A minimum of a Master's degree in finance, economics, environmental science, or a related field is required. Additional certifications or training in project management, sustainable development, or environmental policy would be advantageous.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in finance or project management, particularly in the context of environmental or forestry projects. Experience working with international organizations, government agencies, or NGOs in Cameroon or similar contexts is highly desirable. Proven experience in stakeholder engagement and capacity building is also important.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication in Cameroon. Proficiency in English is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with international stakeholders and partners.
Additional Notes: This consultancy position is expected to last for a duration of 60 days. The consultant will be contracted as an individual contractor under the procurement process of UNDP. The position is not full-time, and the consultant will need to manage their time effectively to meet project deadlines. Compensation will be based on the consultant's qualifications and experience, in accordance with UNDP's remuneration policies.
