Job Overview: The Project Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the project 'Helios+: Comprehensive actions for the integration of third-country nationals into the labour market' in the Region of Central Macedonia. This position involves close collaboration with national and local authorities, as well as experienced partners, to facilitate the integration of beneficiaries of international protection into Greek society. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring the services provided by the service provider, ensuring effective communication and coordination among stakeholders, and supporting senior management in donor reporting. The role requires a proactive approach to developing methodologies, creating tools and materials, and overseeing their implementation to ensure quality service delivery. The Project Assistant will also be involved in data collection, verification, and reporting, as well as representing the project in relevant meetings and working groups.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Project Assistant include:
Supporting the monitoring of services provided by the service provider to ensure compliance with project objectives.
Coordinating and facilitating effective communication between the service provider and project stakeholders.
Assisting senior management in preparing donor reports and ensuring timely submission of required documentation.
Developing methodologies and creating tools, materials, and standard operating procedures to enhance project implementation.
Conducting physical verifications and monitoring project activities to assess quality and effectiveness.
Collecting, verifying, and updating data and Means of Verification to support project reporting.
Ensuring timely communication with other project components and relevant IOM departments.
Submitting reports and necessary information to senior management as required.
Representing the project in meetings with stakeholders and working groups to promote synergies and joint actions. 1
Performing any other duties as assigned by senior management.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a combination of education, experience, and skills. Candidates must possess a high school degree with a minimum of three years of relevant experience, or a university degree in fields such as education, finance, social work, law, or public administration with at least one year of work experience. A master's degree in the relevant fields is considered an advantage. Candidates should demonstrate a strong work ethic, commitment to humanitarian principles, and the ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment. Computer literacy in standard software applications is essential, and a valid driver's license with at least five years of driving experience is preferred.
Educational Background: Candidates must have a high school diploma or a university degree in a relevant field such as education, finance, statistics, economics, psychology, social work, law, international relations, public administration, political science, sociology, management, or business administration from an accredited institution. A master's degree in these fields is advantageous. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience: Candidates should have at least one year of previous work experience, preferably in a multi-cultural environment. Experience in project management, monitoring and evaluation, or working with vulnerable populations is highly desirable. The ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders is essential for success in this role.
Languages: Fluency in English and Greek is required for this position, both oral and written. Proficiency in additional languages such as French or Spanish is considered an asset. Language skills will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
Additional Notes: This position is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Greece will be eligible for consideration. The appointment will be contingent upon medical fitness certification, verification of residency, visa, and government authorizations where applicable.
