Job Overview:
The Cleaning Services Provider position is crucial for maintaining the hygiene and cleanliness of the Accommodation Centers for Unaccompanied Minors (Shelters) operated by IOM in Thessaloniki. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing cleaning duties in both indoor and outdoor areas of the shelter, adhering to established cleaning schedules and hygiene regulations. This role is essential in ensuring that the living environment for unaccompanied migrant children is safe, clean, and conducive to their well-being. The candidate will work under the supervision of the Shelter Coordinator and will be expected to demonstrate flexibility and commitment to the role, as the position may require working during mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. The Cleaning Services Provider will also be part of a larger team dedicated to providing comprehensive support services to the children residing in the shelter, which includes catering, legal counseling, and psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary duties and responsibilities of the Cleaning Services Provider include:
  • Performing cleaning duties for both indoor and outdoor areas of the Accommodation Center, ensuring compliance with hygiene regulations and cleanliness standards.
  • Following the established cleaning schedule to maintain a consistent level of cleanliness throughout the facility.
  • Reporting any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the Shelter Coordinator promptly.
  • Assisting in the organization of cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring they are stored safely and used efficiently.
  • Participating in training sessions and meetings as required to enhance skills and knowledge related to the role.
  • Performing any other duties as assigned by the Shelter Coordinator or designated supervisor to support the overall operation of the shelter.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a certificate of relevant professional experience or certification in cleaning services. Additionally, experience in a similar role is desirable. The ideal candidate should demonstrate excellent communication and negotiation skills, personal commitment, efficiency, and flexibility. The ability to work with minimal supervision and under challenging conditions is essential. A valid driver’s license with at least five years of driving experience is considered an advantage.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a certificate of relevant professional experience or training in cleaning services. Candidates should have their qualifications from accredited universities recognized by the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience:
Relevant experience in cleaning services or a similar role is desirable. Candidates should be able to demonstrate their ability to perform cleaning duties effectively and efficiently, as well as their capacity to work under pressure and in challenging environments.

Languages:
Fluency in Greek is mandatory for all applicants, both oral and written. A working knowledge of English or French is desirable, as IOM’s official languages include English, French, and Spanish. Proficiency in these languages will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

Additional Notes:
This position is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Greece will be eligible for consideration.
