Job Overview: The National Capacity Building Lead will play a crucial role in supporting the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) under the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in India. This position involves providing capacity building and advisory support to state and district level immunization and surveillance program managers. The lead will be responsible for enhancing the performance of government programs by implementing relevant interventions and designing national training frameworks that align with established guidelines. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional analytical and communication skills, enabling them to build technical capacity on vaccine-preventable disease (VPD) surveillance workflows and institutional capacity in data utilization for action. The role requires extensive travel across India and a strong commitment to excellence in public health initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The National Capacity Building Lead will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including: providing advisory support to IDSP program managers at various levels, strengthening government-led program review meetings, identifying training needs, designing targeted training content, and delivering effective training workshops. The lead will collaborate with stakeholders to harmonize capacity development efforts, undertake capacity building activities at national and state levels, establish monitoring frameworks to track progress, and disseminate tools and templates for program management. Additionally, the lead will facilitate the development of eLearning modules, enable cross-learning across geographies, conduct research to provide evidence for decision-making, build trust-based relationships with officials, and document key learnings for dissemination.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in public health, medicine, public administration, management, economics, communication, or related fields. A minimum of 8 years of relevant field experience in immunization, VPD surveillance, or capacity building in the public sector is required. Experience engaging with state and district officials, conducting workshops, and developing training modules is strongly preferred. Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build professional relationships in a multicultural environment are essential. Candidates should also demonstrate excellent analytical and communication skills, an entrepreneurial mindset, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as public health, medicine, public administration, management, economics, or communication. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the complexities of public health initiatives and the capacity building processes necessary for effective program management.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 8 years of relevant field experience, particularly in immunization, VPD surveillance, or capacity building within the public sector. Languages: Fluency in English and Hindi is mandatory for this position.
