Job Overview: The Programme Assistant position at WFP is crucial for supporting the implementation of programmatic activities within the Gaza Area Office. The Programme Assistant will play a key role in ensuring that WFP's mission to provide humanitarian assistance is met efficiently and effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Programme Assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: gathering information to assist in drafting documents and preparing reports; responding to client queries and escalating issues as necessary; managing routine administrative and financial tasks to ensure effective resource management; providing revision and proofreading services for standard documents; maintaining standard systems and files for accurate information availability; identifying discrepancies in data and reporting them to senior staff; ensuring data integrity in corporate systems; offering guidance on business support methods to junior colleagues; coordinating with internal teams and partners to ensure timely delivery of programmatic objectives; and performing any other duties as required by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have completed secondary school education, with a post-secondary certificate in relevant fields such as International Affairs, Law, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Public Policy, Management, or project management being desirable. Additionally, candidates should possess strong technical knowledge in market-based interventions and private sector engagement, as well as proficiency in office equipment and computer software, particularly Microsoft Word. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals is essential.
Educational Background: The minimum educational requirement for this position is the completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in a relevant field such as International Affairs, Law, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Public Policy, Management, or project management is highly desirable and will enhance a candidate's application.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of four years of progressively responsible work experience in the field of program implementation. This experience should demonstrate technical knowledge in relevant areas, particularly in market-based interventions and private sector engagement. The role requires a solid understanding of programmatic processes and the ability to manage tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Languages: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Arabic is mandatory for this position. Candidates must demonstrate a high level of proficiency (level C) in both languages to effectively communicate with stakeholders and produce accurate documentation.
Additional Notes: This position is a Service Contract (SC) at Grade Level 4, with a duration of 12 months. It is specifically for Palestinian nationals residing in Gaza. The monthly remuneration will be based on the SC salary scale, and the contract includes health coverage under CIGNA with co-cost sharing. Social insurance contributions of 8.33% will be added to the net base salary. The contract may be renewed subject to WFP needs, staff performance, and availability of funds. Employees will accrue 2.5 days of annual leave and 2 days of sick leave per month. It is important to note that remuneration under the SC is subject to national or local taxation.
