Its mission is to make the world safer from drugs, crime, corruption, and terrorism by collaborating with Member States to promote justice and the rule of law and build resilient societies. UNODC has its headquarters in Vienna, Austria, and operates in over 80 countries worldwide through a network of 115 field offices, as well as liaison offices in New York and Brussels, employing approximately 2,400 personnel globally. The organization works closely with governments and civil society to build security and justice for all. The UNODC Regional Office for the Middle East and North Africa (ROMENA) covers 18 countries, including Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen. The Regional Office located in Cairo, Egypt, has a total of 122 staff members and implements a Regional Framework for the Arab States (2023-2028) that aims to contribute to peace and security, human rights, and development in the region by addressing issues related to drugs, crime, corruption, and terrorism. This framework outlines a roadmap for UNODC programming and aims to accelerate progress towards Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by providing tailored support to the Arab region in response to pressing challenges.

Job Overview:
The position of Coordination and Communication Assistance to UNODC is designed to support the Criminal Justice Programme, specifically focusing on Children & Youth Projects. The primary goal of this program is to promote child-friendly justice systems and safeguard the rights and well-being of children who are in conflict with the law. Additionally, the program aims to implement drug, violence, and crime prevention initiatives targeted at youth. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing communication efforts and outreach strategies to effectively convey the objectives and achievements of the program. This includes creating engaging content for various social media platforms, drafting communication materials, and collaborating with the communications team to ensure that all materials align with the project’s goals and advocacy priorities. Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Coordination and Communication Assistance position include the following:
  • Develop and deliver content for social media platforms to promote the Criminal Justice Programme and its initiatives.
  • Draft approximately 10 communication materials, including newsletters, brochures, and outreach materials, in coordination with the communications team.
  • Create a social media calendar that aligns with the project’s goals and advocacy priorities, ensuring timely and relevant content is shared.
  • Design basic graphics and visual content using tools like Canva or similar platforms, producing approximately 20 visual assets to support communication efforts.
  • Collaborate with team members to gather information and insights necessary for creating impactful communication materials.
  • Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of communication strategies and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Assist in organizing events or activities related to the program, ensuring effective communication and outreach to stakeholders.
  • Maintain an organized repository of communication materials and resources for easy access by team members.
