Job Overview:
The Information Management /Monitoring and Reporting Consultant will play a crucial role in supporting UNICEF and its partners in Nepal by enhancing information management, monitoring, and reporting processes. This position is vital for improving program quality and accountability, particularly in the context of Emergency Preparedness and Response (EPR) and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) initiatives. The consultant will be responsible for establishing robust monitoring systems, analyzing data from various sources, and ensuring effective communication of findings through reports and knowledge products. The role requires collaboration with field offices and various stakeholders to document best practices and lessons learned, thereby contributing to the overall effectiveness of UNICEF's programs in Nepal.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be tasked with several key responsibilities, including:
  • Strengthening the monitoring system for DRR and EPR programs by developing monitoring frameworks and data collection tools.
  • Supporting ongoing programs through data analysis and reporting.
  • Preparing case studies and human interest stories for donor reports in collaboration with field offices.
  • Coordinating with cluster or sectoral Information Management Focal points and representing UNICEF at the Inter Agency Information Management Working Group.
  • Establishing a comprehensive information management system for preparedness and response.
  • Updating and analyzing pre-crisis sectoral data related to WASH, Education, Health, Child Protection, SPGE, and Nutrition.
  • Preparing stakeholder mapping and GIS-based mapping for effective information dissemination.
  • Organizing regular meetings with cluster/sector members to facilitate information sharing and collaboration.
  • Creating infographics and fact sheets for various clusters and ensuring their availability on relevant platforms. 1
  • Building the capacity of sectoral partners in information management and reporting.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree in a relevant field such as disaster risk management, environmental engineering, climate or social science, or development studies. They should have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in information management, monitoring, and reporting, with a strong understanding of data analysis and information management practices. Excellent communication, analytical, and writing skills are essential, along with experience in emergency contexts and familiarity with the cluster system. Prior experience with UNICEF or other UN agencies is preferred, highlighting the need for candidates to have a solid background in humanitarian work.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position is a Master's degree in a relevant field, which may include disaster risk management, environmental engineering, climate or social science, or development studies. This advanced degree should be complemented by proven technical expertise in the relevant areas, ensuring that the candidate has the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively contribute to UNICEF's mission in Nepal.
