Job Overview:
The consultant will provide technical and coordination support to advance the modernization of the national immunization programme and the Field Epidemiology Training Programme (FETP) in Uzbekistan. This role involves contributing to the development and operationalization of key digital modules of the Immunization Programme Management Information System, organizing capacity-building activities, and supporting the institutionalization of continuous professional development across the programme. The consultant will also assist in coordinating training for epidemiologists and ensuring alignment with national surveillance priorities, ultimately aiming to strengthen the public health system in Uzbekistan.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop a consultancy workplan that articulates linkages with the national Health Management Information System.
  • Contribute to the creation and improvement of training documents, including agendas and modules.
  • Assist in the development and operationalization of Ministry of Health policy documents regulating electronic immunization systems.
  • Coordinate supportive supervision visits and hands-on training for vaccinators and immunization managers.
  • Prepare monthly national and regional vaccine stock reports.
  • Liaise with national partners to coordinate planning and implementation of activities.
  • Provide administrative support to the Field Epidemiology Training Programme, including coordination of training for advanced fellows and frontline cohorts.
  • Facilitate field assignments and mentorship arrangements for FETP activities.

Required Qualifications:
  • University degree in Public Health or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in public health, with a minimum of 3 years in project management.
  • Ability to translate complex ideas into clear guidance.
  • Familiarity with immunization and field epidemiology is essential.

Educational Background:
A university degree in Public Health is required, along with equivalent practical experience in the field. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of public health systems and immunization programs.

Experience:
Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in public health, with at least 3 years specifically in project management. This experience should include familiarity with immunization programs and field epidemiology, demonstrating the ability to manage and implement public health initiatives effectively.

Languages:
Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English and Uzbek are mandatory. Proficiency in Russian is considered an asset, enhancing communication with a broader range of stakeholders in the region.

Additional Notes:
The consultant position requires local travel once a month to provide supportive supervision, with a total of 7 trips expected. The contract duration is not specified, but the total work assignments are estimated at 140 days.
