Job Overview: The Design and Branding Volunteer position is part of the Tech Volunteers for Resilience (Tech4R) programme, which is a collaborative initiative between UNDP ICPSD and UNV. This programme aims to mobilize skilled digital volunteers to develop open-source tools that enhance transparency, accountability, and resilience in governance systems. In this role, the volunteer will work closely with the UNODC in Bosnia and Herzegovina to create a Digital Catalogue of Managed Assets, an online platform designed to promote transparency and public access to information regarding seized and managed properties. The volunteer will be responsible for establishing the visual identity of the platform, ensuring that the design is professional, accessible, and adheres to the visual standards set by both UNODC and the Government of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Duties and Responsibilities: The primary duties and responsibilities of the Design and Branding Volunteer include:
Developing a coherent visual identity for the Digital Catalogue platform that aligns with institutional values.
Designing layouts, icons, and interface components that are consistent with UN and national branding guidelines.
Supporting front-end developers by providing UI/UX design recommendations that enhance accessibility and clarity.
Preparing a short Branding & Visual Style Guide that will assist in the maintenance and future updates of the platform.
Ensuring that the final design is intuitive, inclusive, and visually aligned with the principles of transparency and public service.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate for the Design and Branding Volunteer position should possess a strong understanding of design principles and branding strategies. They should have experience in graphic design, particularly in creating visual identities for digital platforms. Familiarity with UI/UX design practices is essential, as well as proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite or similar tools. The candidate should also demonstrate creativity, adaptability, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Educational Background: Candidates should ideally have a background in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field. A degree or equivalent qualification in design or a relevant discipline is preferred, although practical experience and a strong portfolio may also be considered.
Experience: While specific years of experience may not be required, candidates should have demonstrable skills in design and branding, with a portfolio showcasing previous work in similar projects. Experience in volunteer roles or working within international organizations can be an advantage.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as all communications and documentation will be conducted in this language. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those spoken in Bosnia and Herzegovina, would be considered an asset but is not required.
