Job Overview: The Project Coordinator will play a pivotal role in the implementation of the EU-funded 'Women’s Economic Empowerment in Uzbekistan' project, which is a collaborative effort between UNFPA, UN Women, and UNICEF. This project aims to create an inclusive economic environment in Uzbekistan by dismantling gender stereotypes and harmful norms, thereby enabling women to access decent work, education, entrepreneurship opportunities, and quality family planning services. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating, managing, and monitoring all aspects of UNFPA's work under this project. This includes facilitating effective coordination with participating UN organizations, national stakeholders, and the EU donor. The role requires a proactive and solutions-oriented professional who possesses strong coordination and stakeholder engagement skills to ensure timely and impactful delivery of project results. The Project Coordinator will lead a dedicated team and will oversee financial and programmatic delivery, results-based reporting, and joint visibility and communication initiatives, ensuring alignment with UNFPA and EU standards and regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities: A. Programme Coordination and Implementation: The Project Coordinator will coordinate overall planning, implementation, and monitoring of the EU-funded project, serving as the main focal point for activities among participating UN organizations. They will ensure timely delivery of UNFPA-led activities, organize joint work planning and steering committee meetings, and monitor progress against indicators in the results framework. B. Stakeholder and Partnership Engagement: The Coordinator will liaise with national partners and stakeholders to ensure inclusive participation and national ownership of the project, promoting synergies between UNFPA and government initiatives related to gender equality. C. Reporting, Monitoring and Evaluation: The Coordinator will monitor implementation progress, lead the preparation of joint donor reports, and ensure timely submission of documentation required by the donor. D. Communications, Visibility and Knowledge Sharing: The Coordinator will support the design and implementation of joint visibility strategies, ensuring coherent messaging and promoting knowledge exchange and documentation of promising practices.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a Master's Degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, International Development, Gender Studies, Project Management, Law, Business Administration, or related fields. Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in project management, particularly in coordinating multi-stakeholder projects in areas such as gender equality, GBV prevention, social protection, or women's empowerment. Experience working with international organizations and EU-funded projects is an asset. Candidates should demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to lead and manage teams effectively. Excellent communication skills and experience in establishing partnerships with stakeholders are essential.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Master's Degree in relevant fields such as Social Sciences, International Relations, International Development, Gender Studies, Project Management, Law, or Business Administration. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of gender issues and project management in an international context.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 3 years of progressively responsible experience in project management, particularly in coordinating multi-stakeholder projects. Experience in gender equality, GBV prevention, social protection, or women's empowerment is preferred, especially within international organizations or EU-funded projects. Demonstrated experience in managing budgets, workplans, and reporting is also required.
Languages: Fluency in English, Uzbek, and Russian is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication with stakeholders and partners in the region.
