Job Overview: The INGO Forum Coordinator is a senior-level professional role that requires extensive experience in advocacy, communication, management, and coordination. The primary function of this position is to build and maintain relationships with forum members and external stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration. The coordinator will represent the INGO Forum in various coordination spaces, bilateral encounters, and strategic events, ensuring that the interests of member organizations are cohesively represented. This role is crucial for addressing humanitarian and development issues in Mozambique, focusing on access, advocacy, and enhanced coordination among forum members. The coordinator will facilitate strategic planning and advocacy efforts, ensuring that the forum's objectives are met while operating within NRC's organizational framework.
Duties and Responsibilities: The INGO Forum Coordinator will be responsible for implementing and coordinating the work of the INGO Forum, focusing on advocacy, access, localization, and other relevant matters. Key responsibilities include:
Finalizing the formal registration of the INGO Forum to enable independent funding applications.
Leading INGO engagement in the Humanitarian Reset initiative.
Convening INGOs to develop key positioning and proposals for a reimagined humanitarian architecture in Mozambique.
Collaborating with national NGOs to ensure alignment and effective coordination.
Engaging with the Humanitarian Coordinator (HC) and UN agencies to ensure the involvement of I/NNGOs in the humanitarian process, including facilitating workshops and think-ins.
Facilitating coordination among INGOs, national NGOs, and the Humanitarian Country Team (HCT).
Representing NGO positions in high-level and global forums.
Serving as a focal point for engagement with UN agencies, donors, and government counterparts.
Leading collective advocacy on humanitarian issues such as access, principled humanitarian response, and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security. 1
Strengthening outreach to national NGOs and civil society organizations (CSOs) to advocate for their inclusion in coordination mechanisms and ensure capacity-building efforts.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced degree in a relevant field and have at least 6-10 years of experience in humanitarian programming, with a minimum of 6 years in senior management roles within country programs. Strong communication, interpersonal, facilitation, and diplomatic skills are essential, along with the professional credibility to provide coordination and advice to a multi-agency forum. Prior experience in humanitarian and/or NGO coordination is crucial, preferably in conflict settings. Experience directly coordinating NGO networks or sectors/clusters is strongly preferred. Candidates should have a solid understanding of the UN system, humanitarian coordination architecture, and humanitarian principles. Experience in representation within senior-level coordination mechanisms (such as HCR, IASC) and with governments, donors, and UN agencies is also required. Documented results related to the position's responsibilities are necessary.
Educational Background: An advanced degree in a relevant field is required for this position. This educational background should provide a strong foundation in humanitarian principles, advocacy, and coordination, equipping the candidate with the necessary skills to navigate complex humanitarian environments effectively.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 6-10 years of experience in humanitarian programming, with at least 6 years in senior management roles. This experience should include direct involvement in humanitarian coordination, preferably in conflict settings, and a proven track record of successfully managing and leading teams in challenging environments. Experience working with community-based organizations and knowledge of the legal system in Mozambique will be advantageous.
Languages: Fluency in both English and Portuguese is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication and representation in various forums and with stakeholders. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.
Additional Notes: The duty station for this position is Maputo, Mozambique, with a contract duration until the end of March 2026, which may be extendable based on the availability of funds. The role requires approximately 15% travel. The salary for this position is classified as grade 9 on NRC's International salary scale, amounting to USD 5,18
