Job Overview:
The Information Integrity Officer position is crucial for supporting the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) in its efforts to counter misinformation, disinformation, and hate speech (MDH) that threaten peace and stability in a post-conflict environment. The officer will be responsible for coordinating the UNMISS Information Integrity Working Group and developing mission-wide strategies to monitor and respond to MDH threats. This role involves designing and implementing research methodologies to assess risks to information integrity, conducting fact-checking and open-source research, and utilizing analytics tools to analyze and report on information integrity risks. The officer will also prepare reports and presentations to inform stakeholders and contribute to communication strategies that promote information integrity.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Information Integrity Officer will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including: coordinating the Information Integrity Working Group within UNMISS, supporting the development of strategies to monitor and respond to MDH threats, designing research methodologies to assess risks to information integrity, identifying and cataloging incidents of misinformation and hate speech, conducting fact-checking and open-source research, utilizing analytics tools for data collection and analysis, preparing reports and presentations for internal stakeholders, and contributing to communication and advocacy strategies that promote information integrity. Additionally, the officer will build and maintain partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders to enhance information integrity efforts.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Information Integrity Officer position should possess an advanced university degree in communication, journalism, international relations, digital communications, or a related field. They must have a minimum of seven years of experience in strategic communications, particularly in post-conflict or crisis environments. Proven expertise in addressing MDH threats and promoting information integrity is essential, along with experience working with UN agencies or multinational organizations. Strong skills in project coordination, media monitoring tools, and digital media platforms are also required, as well as the ability to analyze large volumes of data and present findings effectively.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in fields such as communication, journalism, international relations, digital communications, or other related disciplines. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the complexities of information integrity and the communication strategies necessary to address MDH threats.

Experience:
