Job Overview: The Nutrition and Health Expert will operate under the direct supervision of the Field Coordinator, taking on the critical responsibility of providing technical oversight for nutrition and health projects within the Afghanistan mission. This role is pivotal in establishing an appropriate project management setup and tools to ensure efficient, effective, and coherent implementation of projects. The expert will be tasked with ensuring the quality and effectiveness of project delivery, engaging in representation and coordination roles, and overseeing proper project reporting, monitoring, and evaluation. Additionally, the expert will be responsible for budget tracking, utilization, and timely procurement of supplies across all projects, as well as managing human resources effectively. The position requires a proactive approach to providing support and technical assistance to both nutrition and health projects and other multisectoral initiatives within the Afghanistan mission.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Nutrition and Health Expert include:
Establishing and maintaining an effective project management setup and tools for the implementation of nutrition and health projects.
Ensuring the quality and effectiveness of project delivery through regular monitoring and evaluation.
Engaging in representation and coordination with stakeholders, including local authorities and other NGOs.
Overseeing project reporting, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and submitted in a timely manner.
Monitoring project budgets, ensuring proper tracking and utilization of funds, and managing procurement processes efficiently.
Providing technical assistance and support to nutrition and health projects, ensuring adherence to best practices and donor guidelines.
Managing human resources effectively, including mentoring and developing team members to foster a collaborative work environment.
Engaging in proposal development and ensuring alignment with organizational goals and donor expectations.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Nutrition and Health Expert position must hold a Master's degree in Public Health, Medical Science, or a health and nutrition-related discipline such as nursing or midwifery. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role with international NGOs or non-governmental organizations is required. Previous experience with Action Against Hunger (ACF) is considered an advantage. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of donor guidelines and procedures, as well as the ability to manage stress and pressure effectively. Leadership qualities and the ability to multi-task are essential, along with excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree in Public Health, Medical Science, or a related field that focuses on health and nutrition. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of nutrition and health interventions in emergency settings and for effectively managing related projects.
Experience: The position requires at least 5 years of relevant experience working in health and nutrition programs, particularly in field settings. Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, with strong reading, writing, and speaking abilities. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, but English is the primary language required for communication within the organization and with stakeholders.
Additional Notes: The employment conditions for this position include a start date of January 1, 2026, with a fixed-term contract lasting 12 months under either French or Afghan labor law. For international candidates, the monthly gross salary ranges from €2597 to €2968, depending on experience, and includes a 13th-month payment. Additional benefits include reimbursement of pension insurance for non-French citizens at 16% of the gross monthly salary, an annual salary increase of 6% after each 12 months of continuous contract, and a monthly per diem and living allowance of $645 net. National candidates will receive a basic salary of 186732 Afn/month, along with various allowances and benefits.
