Job Overview:
The UN Volunteer Nutrition Programme Support role is designed to assist UNICEF in Jordan with the planning, implementation, and monitoring of nutrition programming specifically targeted at school-aged children, adolescents, and youth. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Nutrition Specialist and the Chief of the Section, focusing on the NEAT survey and its findings. The position aims to contribute to obesity prevention efforts in Jordan by advocating for healthy food environments in schools and ensuring that children have access to nutritious food. The role involves compiling and analyzing data, supporting program development, and facilitating knowledge management and capacity building within the Nutrition Programme.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide Support to Programme Development and Planning: Assist in compiling, synthesizing, and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data to inform nutrition programming. Support planning activities, budgeting, and donor proposals.
  • Implementation, Monitoring, and Reporting: Ensure timely implementation and coordination with partners for national assessments and advocacy campaigns. Organize meetings, workshops, and events. Prepare reports highlighting achievements and gaps, and translate relevant documents between Arabic and English. Monitor budget utilization and prepare summary reports.
  • Knowledge Management and Capacity Building: Compile and analyze feedback and best practices from nutrition projects to strengthen knowledge development within the Nutrition Programme, utilizing platforms like SharePoint.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong analytical skills, particularly in data synthesis and reporting. They should demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders and have experience in program planning and implementation. Proficiency in both Arabic and English is essential, as the role involves translation and communication with local partners. Familiarity with nutrition programming and public health initiatives is highly desirable, along with a commitment to UNICEF's core values of care, respect, integrity, trust, and accountability.

Educational Background:
A degree in public health, nutrition, social sciences, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or specialized training in nutrition or public health will be considered an asset. Candidates should have a solid understanding of nutrition-related issues, particularly those affecting children and adolescents.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience in program support, preferably in the field of nutrition or public health. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate a track record of successfully managing projects and collaborating with diverse teams.

Languages:
Fluency in Arabic is mandatory, as the role involves significant communication with local stakeholders. Proficiency in English is also required for reporting and documentation purposes. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.

Additional Notes:
This is a national UN Volunteer assignment based in Amman, Jordan. The position offers a Monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of JOD 1,145.08, along with annual and learning leaves, free medical and life insurance, and access to various learning platforms. The UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The living conditions in Amman are generally favorable, with a range of amenities and services available.
