Job Overview: The position focuses on Gender Capacity Building, Stakeholder Engagement, and Gender Integration, which are critical components in promoting gender equality and empowering women in Suriname. The role involves working closely with various stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society organizations, and community groups, to develop and implement strategies that enhance gender capacity and promote gender-sensitive policies. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities for this position include:
Conducting assessments to identify gender capacity needs among stakeholders.
Developing training materials and resources for gender capacity building initiatives.
Facilitating workshops and training sessions for various stakeholders on gender issues.
Collaborating with local organizations to promote gender integration in their programs.
Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of gender capacity building initiatives.
Providing technical support and guidance to stakeholders on gender-related policies and practices.
Engaging in advocacy efforts to promote gender equality at local and national levels.
Preparing reports and documentation on gender capacity building activities and outcomes.
Ensuring compliance with UNDP's gender policies and guidelines in all project activities.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong qualifications, including a deep understanding of gender issues and gender equality frameworks. Experience in capacity building, stakeholder engagement, and gender integration is essential. Candidates should demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups. Proficiency in project management and monitoring and evaluation techniques is also required. Familiarity with UNDP's policies and procedures related to gender is a significant advantage.
Educational Background: A minimum of a bachelor's degree in gender studies, social sciences, international development, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may be considered an asset. Additional certifications or training in gender capacity building or related areas will be viewed favorably.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in gender capacity building, stakeholder engagement, or gender integration. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of UNDP or similar agencies, is highly desirable. Proven track record in developing and implementing gender-related programs and initiatives is essential.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in Dutch or other local languages spoken in Suriname is considered an asset. Candidates should possess strong writing and verbal communication skills in the required languages to effectively engage with stakeholders and prepare documentation.
Additional Notes: This position is offered as an individual contractor role, and the contract duration will be specified upon selection. The position is full-time, and candidates may be required to work flexible hours to accommodate stakeholder engagement activities.
