Job Overview: The Finance Officer position at WFP is crucial for supporting the stewardship of the organization's resources. The Finance Officer will work closely with the Deputy CountryDirector and receive guidance from the Finance Unit at the Regional Office. Duties and Responsibilities: The Finance Officer will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: maintaining awareness of corporate finance and resource management strategies, contributing to the development of country-specific financial plans, formulating Standard Operating Procedures, reporting on financial status and project outcomes, overseeing monthly financial closures, monitoring and analyzing financial data, performing bank reconciliations, managing cash flow, and overseeing human resource requirements within the finance unit. The officer will also provide financial assessments of partners and service providers, collate data for accurate reporting, track financial trends, and support the delivery of financial controls. Additionally, the Finance Officer will guide and supervise junior staff, establish work priorities, and represent the finance unit at internal and external meetings. The role may also involve emergency preparedness practices to ensure WFP can respond quickly to crises.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Finance Officer position must possess an advanced university degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field. Alternatively, a first university degree in the same subjects combined with two additional years of relevant work experience is acceptable.
