Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position at UN Women is designed to provide students and recent graduates with exposure to gender equality issues and the workings of the UN. The intern will work under the guidance of the Country Office Representative and the Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation and Reporting Officer (PMERO). The primary focus of this role is to support the organization in improving data collection and management for evidence-based reporting. Interns will gain hands-on experience in various aspects of program planning, monitoring, and evaluation, while also contributing to the implementation of the Country Strategic Note and Workplan. This role offers a unique opportunity to understand how gender perspectives are integrated into policies and programs, and how international frameworks are applied in practice. Interns will also develop research and analytical skills, improve their communication abilities, and gain insights into the UN's operational processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will perform a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: providing support in uploading evidence for indicators related to Development Results and Organization Effectiveness; assisting with the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of program activities; contributing to the design and implementation of M&E activities; preparing project progress reports; organizing data for corporate databases; collecting and analyzing data related to project activities; supporting data collection efforts; providing administrative support for M&E capacity-building initiatives; and conducting background research on gender equality and women's rights. Responsibilities may vary based on the specific unit within UN Women, such as Governance and Leadership, Economic Empowerment, Humanitarian Action, or Ending Violence. The intern may also be required to perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the office.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong interest in gender equality and women's rights issues, along with good verbal and written communication skills. The ability to interact effectively with peers and colleagues is essential. Proficiency in using computers and Microsoft Office 365 software is required. Interns should demonstrate consistency in upholding and promoting UN Women's values and be willing to learn and share knowledge. Taking initiative and being proactive in self-development is also important for this role.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have university studies in disciplines such as Statistics, Economics, or Sociology. They must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); have graduated with a university degree and must commence the internship within a two-year period of graduation; or be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program that is part of a degree program and undertake the internship as part of the program requirements.

Experience:
Experience with data collection and analysis tools is necessary, along with experience in drafting and using qualitative and quantitative data collection tools. Some experience in research is highly desirable. Candidates should possess good ICT skills and the ability to work under guidance while following established procedures.

Languages:
Candidates must be proficient in written and oral English and be native Portuguese speakers. Good command of MS Office and social media skills is required, along with proven report writing skills.

Additional Notes:
Interns who do not receive financial support from other sources will receive a stipend from UN Women to partially subsidize their basic living costs during the internship. The internship is an opportunity for professional development, allowing interns to build cross-cultural communication and teamwork skills in a diverse international work environment. The position may involve full-time or part-time commitments, and interns are expected to adhere to UN Women's policies and procedures, including undergoing rigorous reference and background checks.
