Job Overview:
As an IT Solution Architect at EUROCONTROL, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technological landscape of the organization. Your primary responsibility will be to provide technical expertise and guidance on IT architecture, ensuring that solutions align with the strategic vision and technology transformation plans of EUROCONTROL. You will be involved in the development and coordination of architecture roadmaps, facilitating seamless integration and scalability of solutions for mission-critical software systems. This position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and external partners to make informed architecture decisions, define project goals, and ensure technical soundness. You will also be responsible for translating technical requirements into actionable designs, overseeing adherence to enterprise standards, and maintaining technical documentation. Staying updated on the latest technological developments and sharing knowledge within the organization will be essential to enhance organizational capabilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the IT Solution Architect include:
  • Providing technical expertise and guidance on IT architecture solutions, supporting the development and coordination of architecture roadmaps.
  • Collaborating with internal partners and external providers to make architecture decisions and define project goals.
  • Implementing architectural changes and designing, building, and deploying solutions that meet organizational needs.
  • Analyzing technical requirements and constraints, translating them into practical solutions that optimize performance and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security.
  • Ensuring adherence to architecture standards, policies, and security practices, overseeing governance processes.
  • Developing, reviewing, and maintaining technical documentation, including standards and processes.
  • Staying updated on technological developments and sharing insights within the organization.
  • Carrying out any other tasks in line with the main purpose of the job.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must fulfill one of the following requirements:
  • Completion of third-level studies in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering) meeting EQF Level 7 (Master’s degree or equivalent) followed by at least 3 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Completion of third-level studies in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering) meeting EQF Level 6 (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) followed by at least 4 years of relevant professional experience. Candidates should also have experience in designing IT applications down to the database and middleware layers, documenting architecture and design models, and familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases, Java-based application server platforms, and container technologies. Knowledge of application performance analysis and security practices is also required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science or Engineering. Candidates must have completed their studies at either EQF Level 6 (Bachelor’s degree) or EQF Level 7 (Master’s degree), ensuring a solid foundation in the principles of IT architecture and systems design. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of IT solutions and their implementation in a corporate environment.

Experience:
The level of experience needed for the IT Solution Architect position includes a minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience for candidates with a Master’s degree, or at least 4 years for those with a Bachelor’s degree. This experience should encompass designing IT applications, working with database and middleware layers, and documenting architecture and design models. Familiarity with cloud-based architectures and knowledge of various programming languages and technologies will be advantageous.

Languages:
Proficiency in English at level C1 is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary working language of the Agency. Candidates must also be able to become a basic user of French at level A1/A2 before the end of the probation period. A higher level of proficiency in French would be considered an asset, as it enhances communication within the multicultural environment of EUROCONTROL.

Additional Notes:
The position is offered as a full-time role with a contract duration of 5 years, which may be extended or converted into an undetermined contract based on performance and organizational needs. The selected candidate will undergo a probationary period of 9 months before being established in the post.
