Job Overview:
The Partnership Development Officer will play a crucial role in developing and implementing strategic fundraising initiatives aimed at ensuring the financial sustainability of IOM Brazil. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying and engaging potential partners from both the public and private sectors, facilitating collaboration opportunities in migration and durable solutions programs. The officer will assist in designing, negotiating, and establishing partnership agreements while ensuring compliance with IOM policies and procedures. The role also involves monitoring and reporting on the progress and impact of ongoing partnerships, providing timely updates and recommendations to senior management, and supporting field teams in coordinating partnership activities. The officer will contribute to the development of communication materials and proposals for potential donors and partners, maintain a database of partnerships, and support capacity-building initiatives for staff involved in partnership development and management. Staying informed about trends and challenges in the public and private sectors relevant to migration programming is essential for providing inputs for strategic planning and fostering collaborative relationships with stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategic fundraising initiatives with public and private sector actors to ensure financial sustainability and expand IOM Brazil’s operational capacity.
  • Identify and engage potential partners from government, international organizations, and the private sector to explore collaboration opportunities in migration and durable solutions programs.
  • Assist in the design, negotiation, and establishment of partnership agreements, ensuring compliance with IOM policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and report on the progress and impact of ongoing partnerships, providing timely updates and recommendations to senior management.
  • Support field teams in coordinating partnership activities, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and operational plans.
  • Contribute to the development of communication materials, presentations, and proposals for potential donors and partners.
  • Maintain a database of partnerships, contacts, and relevant information to support informed decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Support capacity-building initiatives, including training and guidance for staff involved in partnership development and management.
  • Stay informed about trends, opportunities, and challenges in the public and private sectors relevant to migration programming and provide inputs for strategic planning. 1
  • Foster collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that IOM’s engagement with partners is transparent, effective, and aligned with institutional objectives. 1
  • Liaise with country and regional offices and thematic focal points to ensure activities are well coordinated and completed within a timely manner while ensuring cohesive and coordinated efforts across the organization enhance Private Sector Engagement. 1
  • Perform other work-related tasks, as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in marketing, communications, business administration, social sciences, international relations, management, development studies, or a related field from an accredited academic institution, along with five years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, candidates with a high school certificate and seven years of relevant professional experience will also be considered. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Candidates should demonstrate experience in coordinating operational activities within a team or department, ensuring smooth and efficient execution of tasks, and should have a solid understanding and experience with fundraising and building partnerships with the private sector. Proven adaptability to changing priorities and the ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team are essential.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in relevant fields such as marketing, communications, business administration, social sciences, international relations, management, development studies, or a related area from an accredited institution. Candidates with a high school certificate may also apply if they have substantial relevant professional experience. The educational qualifications must be from accredited universities recognized in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database, ensuring that candidates have a solid foundation in the necessary disciplines to perform effectively in this role.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least three years of experience in public and private partnership engagement, demonstrating a strong background in coordinating operational activities within a team or department. Experience in fundraising and building partnerships with the private sector is crucial, along with a proven ability to adapt to changing priorities and work collaboratively within a diverse team. The role requires experience in working cross-functionally and obtaining relevant content and information from different units to build innovative partnerships with both public and private sectors.

Languages:
Fluency in Portuguese and English is required for this position, both oral and written. A working knowledge of Spanish is considered an advantage, as it may enhance communication with potential partners and stakeholders in the region.

This position is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Brazil will be eligible for consideration.
