Job Overview: The consultant will play a crucial role in updating and analyzing the Multidimensional Child Poverty index in Brazil, utilizing data from the Continuous PNAD and the 2022 Demographic Census. The consultant will be responsible for producing comprehensive reports that detail the findings of the analysis, including trends and patterns in child poverty across different demographics and regions. The work will involve collaboration with UNICEF's Chief of Social Policy and will contribute to policy discussions aimed at addressing the multidimensional aspects of child poverty in Brazil. The consultant will also be expected to present findings to policymakers, highlighting key messages and recommendations based on the analysis conducted.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct a thorough analysis of the Multidimensional Child Poverty index using data from the Continuous PNAD and the 2022 Demographic Census.
Update the methodology and indicators of the previous Multidimensional Child Poverty studies conducted by UNICEF.
Explore and propose methods for linking data from the Continuous PNAD and the 2022 Census for municipal-level analyses.
Identify and analyze trends in child poverty, focusing on various dimensions such as education, health, and income.
Prepare a preliminary report detailing the updated methodology and findings, including time series data since 201
Develop a final report with comprehensive analysis and recommendations for policymakers, ensuring all code used for analysis is well-documented and open-sourced.
Present findings to stakeholders, including maps and additional analyses to support policy recommendations.
Collaborate closely with UNICEF staff to ensure alignment with organizational goals and standards.
Required Qualifications:
Advanced degree in social sciences, statistics, economics, demography, or related fields.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in data analysis, production of statistics and indicators, and quantitative research methods.
Proven experience with analysis of microdata from Continuous PNAD.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data sets.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly to diverse audiences.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an advanced degree in relevant fields such as social sciences, statistics, economics, or demography. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of child poverty and the methodologies used in data analysis and statistical reporting.
Experience: The position requires at least 5 years of relevant experience in data analysis and the production of statistical reports. Candidates should have a strong background in quantitative research methods and experience working with microdata, particularly from the Continuous PNAD.
