Job Overview:
As an Investment Officer at ADB, you will play a crucial role in the Risk Analytics Unit (RAU) within the Private Sector Operations Department (PSOD). Your primary responsibilities will include conducting risk assessments and due diligence for new nonsovereign transactions, which encompass loans, guarantees, and debt instruments. You will also be tasked with assessing risks associated with existing transactions, preparing risk ratings and valuations, and providing support for thematic or inter-departmental risk analytics projects. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks, as well as collaborating with various teams to ensure sound financial practices. You will be expected to review and assess key transaction risks, provide recommendations for risk mitigation measures, and participate in drafting risk appraisals for nonsovereign debt and guarantee transactions. Your expertise will contribute to the overall success of ADB's mission to foster prosperity in Asia.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Investment Officer will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to:
  • Conducting risk appraisal of new transactions by reviewing and assessing key transaction risks, including sponsor, commercial, and structural risks.
  • Providing recommendations to deal origination teams regarding appropriate risk mitigation measures, deal structuring, and financial covenants throughout the risk appraisal process.
  • Participating in drafting risk appraisals for nonsovereign debt and guarantee transactions during both the concept review and final approval stages.
  • Monitoring transactions by advising deal origination teams on risk mitigation measures and evaluating proposed changes to loan covenants and terms.
  • Recommending risk mitigation measures relevant to covenant structures and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security arrangements.
  • Covering a designated sector as a primary responsibility, with oversight from a senior team member.
  • Participating in select due diligence missions and assuming ad hoc project duties as required.
  • Providing support to other divisions and units within PSOD for special projects and tasks as needed.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for the Investment Officer position, candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field, with a preference for those who have advanced training. Additionally, candidates should hold qualifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). A minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience in an international bank, rating agency, or multilateral/bilateral development organization is required, specifically in risk management, deal origination, or investment appraisal. Familiarity with risk rating tools and developments in risk management is essential, along with strong computer skills, including proficiency in word-processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, financial modeling, and macro. Candidates must demonstrate written and verbal proficiency in English.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for the Investment Officer position includes a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. Candidates with advanced training or additional qualifications such as CPA or CFA will be preferred. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of financial transactions and risk management in the context of development finance.

Experience:
Candidates must have at least 8 years of relevant professional experience in fields such as international banking, rating agencies, or multilateral/bilateral development organizations. This experience should encompass risk management, deal origination, or investment appraisal, providing the candidate with the necessary skills to effectively assess and manage risks associated with nonsovereign transactions.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position, both written and verbal. This is essential for effective communication within the organization and with external stakeholders. Additional Notes:
This position is a fixed-term appointment for an initial period of 3 years, with the possibility of extension for up to 2 additional years, conversion to a regular appointment, or termination at the end of the initial period based on ADB's needs and the employee's performance.
