Job Overview: The position of International Intern at the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek is designed for individuals who are eager to gain practical experience in the field of human rights, democratic governance, and international relations. The intern will work under the supervision of various department heads and will be involved in a range of activities that support the Human Dimension Department (HDD). This includes assisting with the planning and organization of events, reporting on internal and external activities, and providing general administrative support. The internship offers a unique opportunity to familiarize oneself with the OSCE's operations, particularly in areas such as elections, rule of law, and combating human trafficking. The intern will be expected to engage actively with the team and contribute to the department's objectives while developing their professional skills and understanding of international diplomacy.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
General administration tasks that support the daily operations of the Human Dimension Department.
Planning and organizing events and visits, ensuring that all logistical aspects are managed effectively.
Assisting in the preparation of reports for both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and clarity in communication.
Providing general assistance to national staff across four key project areas: elections, countering trafficking in human beings, rule of law, and fundamental freedoms.
Engaging in research and analysis related to the department's activities and contributing to discussions on relevant topics.
Collaborating with team members to ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently and in alignment with the OSCE's mission and values.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be between 19 and 30 years old and have completed at least two years of full-time studies at an accredited institution, or have obtained a first or advanced degree in a field relevant to the OSCE's mandate within the last two years. Additionally, candidates should have a strong academic background in areas related to human rights, sociology, politics, or diplomacy. Fluency in English is mandatory, with excellent communication skills, while proficiency in Russian or Kyrgyz is considered an asset. Candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in human rights and international relations, along with relevant academic or volunteer experience. Familiarity with Microsoft Office and internet applications is essential, as is the ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should have completed at least two years of higher education in a relevant field, such as international relations, political science, human rights, or sociology. Alternatively, candidates who have recently graduated with a first or advanced degree in these areas are also eligible to apply. Additional Notes: This internship is unpaid and does not include any remuneration or reimbursement for expenses incurred during the internship period. The duration of the internship is six months, contingent upon satisfactory performance. The OSCE offers the option for the intern to participate in a group health insurance scheme at their own expense, while life and accident/disability insurance will be covered by the OSCE.
