In 2025, UN Women Uganda will spearhead national efforts to raise awareness, amplify survivor voices, and advocate for stronger actions to end violence against women and girls. The selected volunteers will be responsible for creating high-quality content that resonates with the campaign's messaging and objectives, ensuring that the articles are not only informative but also impactful in driving change.
Duties and Responsibilities: The primary duties and responsibilities of the Online Volunteer include drafting 1 to 3 high-quality articles totaling 5,000 words on the topic of gender-based violence in Uganda. The volunteer will be required to copyedit and proofread drafts provided by UN Women Uganda, ensuring that all articles are concise, coherent, and utilize consistent gender equality terminology. Collaboration with the communications team is essential to refine the content for both digital and print publication. Additionally, the volunteer will be tasked with delivering edited and proofread versions of all articles, as well as a final compiled set of articles ready for publication in both Word and PDF formats. A style/terminology guide of 2 to 3 pages will also need to be created to ensure consistent drafting across all campaign materials.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate for this position should possess strong writing and editing skills, with a demonstrated ability to produce high-quality articles on social issues, particularly gender-based violence. Familiarity with gender equality terminology and issues is essential. The volunteer should be detail-oriented, capable of working independently, and able to meet deadlines.
