Job Overview: The Platform Engineer - Network security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security position is a critical role within the Information Technology division of the EBRD. This role involves designing, implementing, and safeguarding next-generation security platforms that encompass a wide range of technologies including firewalls, Web Application Firewalls (WAFs), Secure Access Service Edge (SASE), SSL VPNs, Network Access Control (NAC), and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). The engineer will work hands-on with industry-leading technologies from vendors such as Check Point, Palo Alto, Cisco, and Microsoft Azure. The position requires a proactive approach to building robust defenses that protect both perimeter and cloud environments, ensuring zero-trust segmentation and global load balancing. The successful candidate will be expected to engage with Managed Service Providers and Professional Service Partners to enhance the security posture of the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Platform Engineer - Network Security include but are not limited to:
Designing, implementing, and supporting next-generation firewalls and web application firewalls.
Ensuring the security of cloud network environments, particularly those utilizing Check Point and Microsoft Azure technologies.
Managing and configuring Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) solutions.
Implementing and maintaining SSL VPNs to ensure secure remote access.
Collaborating with Managed Service Providers and Professional Service Partners to enhance security measures.
Conducting regular assessments and updates of security protocols to adapt to evolving threats.
Providing technical support and guidance to team members and stakeholders regarding network security best practices.
Participating in incident response activities and contributing to the development of security policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Platform Engineer - Network Security position must possess a combination of technical skills and certifications. Required qualifications include:
Intermediate to advanced technology certifications in network security, such as PAN Generalist and Specialist qualifications.
Proven experience in designing, implementing, and supporting next-generation firewalls and web application firewalls.
A foundational knowledge of enterprise networking, including routing and switching principles.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field. Advanced degrees or specialized training in network security or related disciplines are highly desirable and may enhance a candidate's application.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in network security roles, with a strong focus on designing and implementing security solutions. Experience working with cloud security technologies and managing security operations in a corporate environment is essential. Familiarity with regulatory compliance and risk management frameworks is also beneficial.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the working language of the EBRD. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those spoken in the EBRD member countries, is considered an asset and may enhance communication with diverse stakeholders.
