Job Overview: The Technology Delivery Manager role is crucial for overseeing the delivery of security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security projects within the organization. This position requires a deep understanding of both Agile and Waterfall methodologies, as the manager will be responsible for orchestrating delivery across multiple IT squads. The successful candidate will ensure that all solutions, workflows, and milestones align with business and technology objectives while enhancing the organization's security posture. The role involves close collaboration with engineering, product, and cybersecurity teams to identify and mitigate risks early in the project lifecycle. The Technology Delivery Manager will also be responsible for embedding Agile practices, applying Waterfall discipline where necessary, and maintaining governance and quality standards that support a security-first delivery model. This position is ideal for someone who excels in complex environments, communicates effectively, and has a proven track record of delivering impactful security projects.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Technology Delivery Manager will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
Deliver cross-functional IT initiatives across squads, ensuring alignment with business and technology objectives.
Support the Agile delivery process while balancing flexibility with necessary controls to ensure on-time, within-scope delivery of IT solutions.
Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across IT and business teams, instilling a product mindset with clear communication on delivery goals, progress, risks, and outcomes.
Manage expectations effectively, aligning on scope, timelines, and milestones, focusing on Agile delivery while applying Waterfall principles as needed.
Identify and manage delivery risks and dependencies proactively across multiple IT squads.
Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and self-organization within teams while remaining open to Waterfall techniques when necessary.
Collaborate with multiple IT squads, Product Owners, and stakeholders to ensure focus on high-impact solutions.
Ensure effective application of Scrum, Kanban, and continuous delivery practices to meet project needs and deliver successful outcomes.
Meet all delivery governance requirements, including managing stage gates, budgets, financial controls, and governance standards for IT projects. 1
Support the implementation of delivery practices, ensuring teams are properly resourced and forecasted for success, and that deliverables meet quality standards. 1
Assist in preparing business cases for IT projects, clearly articulating scope, benefits, costs, and risk mitigation strategies. 1
Help define delivery models, timelines, and resource allocation plans.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate for the Technology Delivery Manager position should possess the following qualifications:
Proven experience as a Technology Delivery Manager in mid-sized organizations, with a strong understanding of Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
Solid understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.) and practical experience in their application across IT delivery teams.
Familiarity with Waterfall principles and their integration with Agile processes in hybrid delivery environments.
Experience in IT project delivery lifecycles, including risk management, dependencies, and resource forecasting in both Agile and traditional frameworks.
Understanding of key IT delivery tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow) for backlog management, sprint planning, and reporting.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively engage with stakeholders and communicate project status, risks, and outcomes.
Experience in prioritizing and managing multiple delivery streams across different squads, ensuring alignment with business and technical objectives.
Hands-on experience in managing small to medium-sized IT delivery projects, ensuring adherence to Agile practices and alignment with business objectives.
Experience in stakeholder management and communication, ensuring key stakeholders are engaged and informed throughout the project lifecycle. 1
Experience in coaching or mentoring team members in Agile practices and helping teams improve their Agile maturity. 1
Proficiency with Waterfall delivery principles, especially in hybrid environments where both Agile and Waterfall practices are utilized. 1
Experience in preparing business cases for IT projects, including scope definition, risk mitigation strategies, and alignment with business objectives. 1
Certification in Agile methodologies (e.g., Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)) is a plus but not required.
Educational Background: Candidates should have a relevant educational background, typically including a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in project management or Agile methodologies may be advantageous and are often preferred by employers in this field.
Experience: The position requires significant experience in technology delivery management, specifically within mid-sized organizations. Candidates should have a proven track record of successfully delivering IT projects, particularly in security-focused initiatives. Experience in both Agile and Waterfall methodologies is essential, with a strong emphasis on managing complex projects and cross-functional teams.
