Job Overview:
The Security Associate position at WFP is crucial for ensuring the safety and security of WFP staff, facilities, and operations in Gaza. The role involves implementing and assessing security measures, maintaining security equipment, and providing updates and recommendations to facilitate informed decision-making. The Security Associate will be responsible for reviewing security threats and risks, compiling reports on trends that could impact WFP operations, and ensuring that security-related information is accurately collated and communicated to senior security staff. This position requires a proactive approach to security management, including liaising with local authorities and coordinating with various stakeholders to facilitate safe program delivery. The Security Associate will also conduct security assessments during field missions, analyze reports, and present recommendations for risk mitigation. The role demands a strong understanding of security logistics, risk assessment, and compliance with the United Nations Security Management System (UNSMS).

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Security Associate will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to: reviewing and analyzing security threats and risks, compiling detailed reports on security incidents, and ensuring that information is readily available for relevant stakeholders. The individual will liaise with local administration, security, and law enforcement authorities to facilitate safe program delivery and mitigate potential risks. Planning and coordinating staff activities during field missions, performing security assessments, and analyzing security reports are essential duties. The Security Associate will assist in advising the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director on security risk management matters, support the implementation of risk management measures, and maintain security equipment. Monitoring access control procedures, developing emergency and contingency planning documentation, delivering security training to staff, and supervising on-the-job training for other staff members are also key responsibilities. The role requires constant vigilance and attention to detail to promptly detect any breaches in security measures.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in security operations, with specialized knowledge of practical methods, techniques, procedures, and systems used in security. The role requires broad knowledge and understanding of security logistics, administration, and risk assessment, as well as experience in coordinating with local authorities and law enforcement agencies. Training and experience in fire and related intervention/evacuation procedures are essential. The ability to manage emergency situations calmly and effectively is crucial, along with excellent communication skills to maintain correspondence with internal staff and external authorities regarding security advisories and incidents. Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to attend security training and comply with UNSMS standards.

Educational Background:
The minimum educational requirement for this position is the completion of secondary school education. However, a Bachelor's degree in a related functional area is desirable and may enhance a candidate's application. Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 6 years of professional experience in security operations. Candidates should have gained sound knowledge of security operations technical processes and have provided technical guidance and training to staff members within their area of expertise. Experience in supporting research and data collation that informs security operations activities is also necessary. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing security operations effectively and demonstrating a commitment to continuous professional development in the field of security.

Languages:
Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Arabic is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.

Additional Notes:
This position is offered as a Service Contract for a duration of 12 months, with the possibility of renewal subject to WFP needs, staff performance, and the availability of funds. The role is based in Gaza and is specifically open to Palestinian nationals residing in Gaza. The monthly remuneration will be based on the SC salary scale, and the position includes health coverage under CIGNA with co-cost sharing. Social insurance contributions of 8.33% will be added to the net base salary. Employees are entitled to 2.5 days of annual leave and 2 days of sick leave per month. It is important to note that remuneration under the Service Contract is subject to national or local taxation.
