Job Overview: The Fellow position is designed to attract individuals, typically PhD students, researchers, and professors, who possess advanced technical knowledge and experience relevant to the fields of the FAO. The fellows will engage in specialized learning objectives while contributing their expertise through time-bound arrangements with FAO. The assignments will align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and FAO's Strategic Framework, focusing on transforming agri-food systems to enhance production, nutrition, environmental sustainability, and overall quality of life. The fellow will report to an assigned supervisor and will be involved in various fields of work based on their profile and the organization's needs.
Duties and Responsibilities: The fellow will perform tasks as specified in the Terms of Reference (TOR) prepared by the hiring office. Responsibilities may include conducting research, analyzing data, contributing to project development, and collaborating with other team members to support FAO's initiatives. The fellow is expected to apply their technical expertise to assist in achieving the organization's goals and objectives, participate in meetings, and contribute to reports and publications as required. The fellow will also be involved in knowledge sharing and capacity building activities within the organization and with external stakeholders.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a graduate or post-graduate degree (Master’s or PhD) or be enrolled in a PhD program at a recognized educational institution at the time of application. FAO only considers higher educational qualifications from institutions accredited by the World Higher Education Database (WHED). Additionally, candidates should have at least two years of relevant working or research experience in one of the fields of the Organization. They must also demonstrate the ability to adapt to an international multicultural environment and possess strong communication skills.
Educational Background: A graduate or post-graduate degree (Master’s or PhD) is required, or candidates must be enrolled in a PhD program at a bona fide educational institution. The educational qualifications must be from an institution recognized in the World Higher Education Database (WHED).
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of two years of relevant working or research experience in one of the fields of the Organization. This experience should demonstrate the candidate's ability to contribute effectively to FAO's mission and objectives.
Languages: A working knowledge of at least one FAO language (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, or Spanish) is mandatory. Knowledge of a second FAO language is considered an asset and will enhance the candidate's profile.
