Job Overview: The FAO volunteer" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Regular Volunteer Programme offers individuals the opportunity to contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and FAO's Strategic Framework, which supports the 2030 Agenda. Volunteers will engage in activities that promote better production, nutrition, environment, and overall quality of life, ensuring that no one is left behind. Volunteers will be assigned to fields relevant to FAO's mission and will report to an assigned supervisor. The role requires adaptability to an international multicultural environment and effective communication skills, as volunteers will be expected to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
Duties and Responsibilities: Volunteers will perform various functions as specified in the Terms of Reference (TOR) prepared by the hiring office. This may include conducting research, assisting in project implementation, participating in community outreach, and supporting the development of strategies to combat hunger and malnutrition. Volunteers are expected to contribute their skills and knowledge to enhance FAO's efforts in achieving food security and sustainable agricultural practices. They will also be involved in knowledge sharing and continuous improvement initiatives within the organization.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have completed secondary school education and possess a working knowledge of at least one FAO language (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, or Spanish). Knowledge of a second FAO language is considered an asset. Candidates should be nationals of FAO member countries, aged 18 or older, and demonstrate the ability to adapt to an international multicultural environment. Good communication skills are essential, as is a commitment to FAO's values of integrity and respect for all.
Educational Background: A minimum of secondary school education is required for this position. Candidates are encouraged to have additional qualifications or training relevant to the fields of agriculture, food security, nutrition, or related areas, which may enhance their contributions as volunteers.
Experience: While specific professional experience is not mandatory, relevant working or research experience in fields related to FAO's mission is highly valued. Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to learn and engage in volunteer activities that support FAO's objectives.
