Job Overview: The Technology Manager role at the World Bank's Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) Vice Presidential Unit (VPU) is designed for an experienced professional who possesses strong stakeholder engagement skills and technical expertise. This position is pivotal in leading innovation and digital transformation across globally distributed teams. The ITS VPU aims to leverage information and technology to accelerate and sustain development impact, aligning with the broader mission of the World Bank to eradicate poverty. The Technology Manager will engage with internal and external stakeholders to advance strategic objectives, develop and implement technology strategies, and ensure that the unit's work aligns with the department's vision. The role also involves managing the unit's budget and ensuring compliance with financial policies, while fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation within the team.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Technology Manager will be responsible for a wide range of duties including: developing and implementing technology strategies that align with organizational priorities, leading strategic planning for the Operations Products portfolio, participating in senior leadership meetings, providing advisory services, managing the unit’s budget, and ensuring compliance with financial policies. Specific accountabilities for the first year include developing roadmaps for various product lines, achieving operational excellence, replacing the Operations Procurement system, integrating the Financial Management system, and enhancing the Environment and Social system through AI. The Manager will also provide strategic technology advisory to Fiduciary Operations business units, oversee the design and delivery of technology solutions, and lead teams in developing digital solutions while promoting Agile methodologies.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field with at least 10 years of relevant experience, or a bachelor's degree with 15 years of relevant experience. Post-graduate coursework in digital technology, information technology, innovation, AI, or related subjects is preferred. Additionally, candidates should have demonstrated experience in international development, emerging markets, or social impact sectors. Certifications in Agile methodologies, PMP, ITIL, Cloud, AI, or other industry certifications are also preferred.
Educational Background: The educational requirements for this position include a master’s degree in a relevant field such as computer science or engineering, or a bachelor's degree with extensive experience. Post-graduate coursework in areas related to digital technology and innovation is highly desirable, indicating a strong foundation in the technical aspects of the role.
Experience: The position requires significant experience, specifically a minimum of 10 years in relevant fields for candidates with a master's degree, or 15 years for those with a bachelor's degree.
