Job Overview:
The Logistics Associate position at WFP is designed to provide specialized support functions and oversee staff engaged in standard logistics and supply chain processes. The role is crucial for ensuring the effective delivery of goods and services across various delivery modalities. The Logistics Associate will be responsible for coordinating requisitioning processes, managing vendor contracts, and ensuring timely delivery of commodities to authorized partners. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to maintaining high standards of client service. The Logistics Associate will also play a key role in budget monitoring, inventory management, and operational planning, contributing to the overall efficiency of WFP's logistics operations. The successful candidate will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate effective service delivery and support emergency preparedness activities, ensuring that WFP can respond effectively to crises and humanitarian needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Logistics Associate will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
  • Providing specialized support to logistics operations and activities, ensuring adherence to standard processes for effective food assistance delivery.
  • Coordinating requisitioning and ensuring timely delivery of commodities and supplies to authorized partners and destinations.
  • Managing logistics vendors’ contracting activities, including performance monitoring and measurement.
  • Supporting market intelligence gathering and vendor assessments to aid in the vendor selection process.
  • Identifying and resolving specialized queries or requests for support, ensuring timely and accurate resolution with a client service mindset.
  • Preparing, monitoring, and revising budgets for all delivery modalities, ensuring compliance with corporate standards.
  • Monitoring inventory management processes to track trends and account for inventory status from source to beneficiary.
  • Supporting oversight for commodity accounting data quality and integrity.
  • Analyzing operational pipelines and contributing to assessments and operational planning for all delivery modalities. 1
  • Managing documentation processing for logistics operations, including customs clearance and invoice verification. 1
  • Conducting research, collecting data, and producing reports to ensure information accuracy in corporate systems. 1
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to support logistics operations management. 1
  • Supervising support staff, providing guidance to ensure objectives are met. 1
  • Supporting logistics emergency preparedness and response activities, including Logistics Capacity Assessment and Contingency Plan updates.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a secondary school education, with a post-secondary certificate in a related functional area being desirable. The role requires a minimum of six years of progressively responsible work experience in logistics or supply chain management, with a strong emphasis on general administrative work. Candidates should have experience in maintaining corporate systems, administering contracts with third-party service providers, and budget monitoring and reporting. Strong analytical skills and the ability to produce accurate reports are essential for this position.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position includes the completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in a relevant field is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's qualifications for the role.

Experience:
The Logistics Associate position requires at least six years of progressively responsible work experience in logistics or supply chain management. Candidates should have a solid background in general administrative work, with experience in managing contracts, budget monitoring, and logistics operations being particularly valuable.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, with a proficiency level of C. Additional language skills may be beneficial but are not explicitly required for this role.
