Job Overview:
The position of Online Volunteer for Social Media at Action Lab for Development involves supporting the organization's social media efforts to raise awareness about entrepreneurship, poverty alleviation, and youth mentorship. The role is designed for two volunteers, each with specific tasks. The first volunteer will focus on preparing social media content for visual communication, which includes creating infographics, captions, and hashtags. This volunteer is expected to produce two to three visual messages, captions, and hashtags per week. The second volunteer will be responsible for optimizing the organization's website SEO, which includes improving keywords, meta tags, site speed, mobile responsiveness, backlinks, content quality, and structured data integration. This volunteer will also post approved content and share it across various social media platforms, contributing to the organization's advocacy efforts. The volunteers will collaborate with a team on the ground who will provide relevant information and images throughout the volunteer period, ensuring that the content is aligned with the organization's mission and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare social media content for visual communication, including creating infographics, captions, and hashtags.
  • Produce two to three visual messages, captions, and hashtags per week for social media platforms.
  • Optimize the organization's website SEO by improving keywords, meta tags, site speed, mobile responsiveness, backlinks, content quality, and structured data integration.
  • Post approved content on the website and share it across various platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
  • Collaborate with the on-ground team to gather relevant information and images for content creation.
  • Contribute to Action Lab for Development’s advocacy efforts through effective social media strategies.
  • Engage with the online community to drive visibility and engagement for the organization's initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and their respective audiences.
  • Experience in creating visual content, including infographics and social media posts.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices and experience in optimizing website content.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a virtual environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Familiarity with social entrepreneurship and community development is a plus.

Educational Background:
A background in communications, marketing, graphic design, social media management, or a related field is preferred. Relevant coursework or certifications in digital marketing or social media strategy would be beneficial.

Experience:
Previous experience in social media management, content creation, or digital marketing is highly desirable. Experience working with non-profit organizations or in community development initiatives is a plus, as it aligns with the mission of Action Lab for Development.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in French or other languages relevant to the Canadian community may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse audiences.
