Job Overview:
The UN Volunteer for the Climate Change Adaptation Project will play a crucial role in supporting the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) project, which is aimed at enhancing climate resilience in Indonesia. This position involves working closely with various ministries and agencies, including the Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas) and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF), to ensure effective coordination and implementation of climate resilience initiatives. The volunteer will be responsible for organizing impactful events, developing communication materials, and supporting the project team in administrative and procurement tasks. The role requires creativity and strong communication skills to engage stakeholders and promote the project's objectives effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the project team in promoting integrated actions for climate resilience and adaptation by organizing impactful events. This includes collaborating with the Communications and Reporting Specialist to design promotional events such as launches, workshops, and expos that highlight project achievements.
  • Coordinate meetings and preparations for events, ensuring effective communication with vendors and partners to deliver quality services.
  • Develop communication materials and social media content to promote events and project results, including drafting posts, researching relevant content, and monitoring social media trends for audience engagement.
  • Assist in the administration and procurement processes for events, identifying necessary resources, preparing forms, and supporting the administration team in verifying documents for payments.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong organizational and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. A proactive approach to problem-solving and adaptability to changing circumstances are essential. Familiarity with climate change issues and experience in event planning or communications would be advantageous. The ideal candidate should also exhibit a commitment to the values of the UN, including accountability, integrity, and respect for diversity.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in communications, environmental science, social sciences, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with relevant coursework or certifications in project management, event planning, or climate change adaptation will be viewed favorably.

Experience:
The position requires some experience in event organization, communications, or project support. While prior experience in a UN or international development context is beneficial, it is not mandatory. Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to the demands of the role.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance the effectiveness of the volunteer's contributions.
