Job Overview: The position of Online Volunteer - Web Application Designer involves designing a web application for the BREATH project, which aims to bridge healthcare gaps for women and girls in Africa, particularly in Uganda and Sierra Leone. Volunteers will be responsible for creating a user-friendly interface that allows women to access health services, track nearby facilities using Google Maps, and utilize an inquiry box for questions. Duties and Responsibilities:
Design and develop a web application that provides information on sexual and reproductive health (SRH) for women and girls in Africa.
Integrate the application with local healthcare systems and Google Maps to facilitate access to nearby health facilities.
Create an open access inquiry box for users to submit questions, ensuring that AI provides automated responses where possible.
Collaborate with medical officers to address inquiries that require professional input.
Participate in an online orientation to understand the project requirements and expectations.
Utilize provided SRH materials to enhance the content of the web application.
Work closely with the AYPAD team and local authorities to ensure the application meets community needs and expectations.
Required Qualifications:
Proficiency in web application design and development, with experience in creating user-friendly interfaces.
Familiarity with integrating applications with healthcare systems and mapping services such as Google Maps.
Understanding of sexual and reproductive health issues, particularly in the context of African communities.
Ability to work collaboratively in a remote team environment and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
