Job Overview: The ICT Intern will play a crucial role in supporting the UNFPA Moldova Country Office by maintaining and enhancing its information and communication technology infrastructure and digital presence. This internship is designed to provide valuable experience and skills to individuals from under-represented groups, enabling them to advocate for their rights effectively. The intern will be involved in a variety of tasks that ensure the smooth operation of technology used for programmatic and communication efforts. This includes providing technical support, assisting with digital platforms, and contributing to the overall IT strategy of the organization. The position is part-time, allowing for a flexible work schedule that accommodates both remote and in-person work.
Duties and Responsibilities: The ICT Intern will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: providing technical support to UNFPA staff for hardware and software issues; troubleshooting network connectivity problems; assisting in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer systems and peripherals; performing regular data backups and ensuring data security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security; setting up IT equipment for meetings, workshops, and events; managing and maintaining UNFPA Moldova's digital platforms, including the website and social media channels; supporting IT aspects of online events, webinars, and virtual meetings; assisting with basic graphic design and multimedia tasks related to digital communication; contributing to the digitalization of documents and information management processes; providing technical support for data collection and analysis tools; and following up on IT-related requests from UNFPA Moldova staff. The intern may also be required to perform other ICT-related support tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be enrolled in a university, college, or vocational training program in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or have completed secondary education. They should demonstrate motivation, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to getting involved in the organization's activities. Additionally, candidates should possess excellent oral, written, and communication skills, as well as a basic understanding of IT systems, networking, and common software applications. The ability to work well with diverse groups of people and to communicate effectively is essential.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should be currently enrolled in or have completed studies in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a relevant field. This educational background is crucial for understanding the technical aspects of the role and for effectively supporting the organization's IT needs.
Experience: While prior experience in a professional IT environment is not mandatory, any relevant experience, such as internships or volunteer work in technology-related fields, will be considered an asset. The focus is on providing opportunities for individuals to gain practical experience and develop their skills in a supportive environment.
Languages: Fluency in Romanian, both oral and written, is mandatory for this position. Additionally, fluency in Russian or English is considered an asset. Knowledge of other languages relevant to Moldova, such as Bulgarian, Gagauzian, Romani, Ukrainian, or sign language, is also advantageous and will enhance the candidate's ability to communicate effectively within the diverse communities served by UNFPA.
Additional Notes: This internship is specifically targeted at nationals of the Republic of Moldova and aims to support under-represented groups, including persons with disabilities, people living with HIV, LGBTIQ individuals, and ethnolinguistic minorities. The internship duration is up to 6 months, with a part-time workload of up to 50%. The position allows for a hybrid work modality, combining remote and in-person work.
