The intern will be integrated into the Impact & Partnerships Strategy and Blended Finance team, reporting directly to the Associate Director. The primary focus of this role is on data analysis, management, and financial/econometric modeling related to the EBRD's blended finance initiatives and donor funds portfolio. The intern will play a crucial role in supporting the production of analytical reports and knowledge products that inform donor strategies and policies. This position requires full-time availability throughout the internship period, and the intern will be expected to collaborate closely with various departments within the bank to gather and analyze data, maintain databases, and contribute to the development of financial models and communication products.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: supporting the preparation of analytical products such as the Donor Strategy and Annual Donor Report; collecting and reconciling raw data from IT systems and liaising with different departments; maintaining and updating internal databases and analytical tools; conducting data analysis on the blended finance and donor funds portfolio; leading the development of financial models for donor funds; producing communication products like presentations and briefing notes; and assisting in the creation of research papers related to EBRD's use of donor funds. Additionally, the intern will provide administrative support as needed by the team, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and accurately.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a graduate qualification (Masters) in Economics, Finance, Statistics, or a related field. They should have experience in data analysis and management, with the ability to interpret complex technical and financial data into actionable insights. Proficiency in econometric modeling and financial modeling is essential, along with strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with data analytics software such as Tableau, SQL, R, or Stata is desirable. The ideal candidate will also have a keen interest in development finance and international relations, and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural team environment.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in a relevant field such as Economics, Finance, or Statistics is required for this internship position. This educational background will provide the necessary theoretical foundation and analytical skills needed to perform the tasks associated with the role effectively.
Experience: Candidates should have prior experience in data analysis and management, particularly in cleaning large datasets and interpreting financial data. Experience in relational database management is a plus. The ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously is crucial for success in this role.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as strong communication skills are essential for conveying complex data analysis to a diverse range of stakeholders. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.
