Job Overview: The Data AnalyticsAnalyst position is crucial for the development of analytics solutions within the Microsoft Fabric and Power BI ecosystem. This role is pivotal as the organization transitions from an existing reporting stack, which includes Tableau, Alteryx, SQL Server, and Cognos, to a modern, cloud-based analytics platform. The primary focus of this role is to build scalable future-state solutions in Fabric and Power BI while also providing business-as-usual (BAU) support for existing Tableau dashboards and Alteryx workflows. The analyst will leverage their expertise to deliver high-quality data insights through data visualization and business intelligence tools, ensuring comprehensive, timely, and accurate operational oversight for both operational teams and management. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including IT and HR, is essential to deliver data-driven solutions that enhance efficiency, support decision-making, and ensure regulatory compliance. The role also involves driving ad-hoc projects and requires a willingness to learn and apply new tools and techniques through peer-to-peer learning, self-initiative, and formal training.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Data Analytics Analyst will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: developing, maintaining, and delivering high-quality dashboards and reports using Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, and Tableau; supporting BAU reporting activities, including daily, weekly, and monthly data refreshes and ad hoc management information (MI) requests; contributing to the migration of existing Tableau reporting into Microsoft Fabric and Power BI; extracting, cleaning, and transforming data from SQL Server, Excel, APIs, and other sources for analysis and reporting; building robust data models and automating recurring reporting processes to support self-serve analytics; translating business requirements into meaningful KPIs, visualizations, and data stories for operational and leadership stakeholders; conducting deep-dive analysis to identify trends, anomalies, risks, and opportunities for operational improvement; collaborating with data engineers, IT teams, and business stakeholders to ensure consistent data definitions and metric alignment; ensuring accurate and timely delivery of key recurring reports and insights for senior management; identifying data quality issues, gaps, or inconsistencies and working with data owners to resolve them; maintaining clear, structured documentation for data models, semantic layers, data flows, and reporting logic; contributing to BI standards, naming conventions, and governance frameworks across the analytics function; supporting and troubleshooting existing Tableau, Alteryx, SQL, and other legacy analytics workflows during the transition period; conducting proactive analysis to identify process gaps and opportunities for improvement through data-driven insights; and continuously developing technical skills while staying current with emerging analytics technologies, particularly within the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate for the Data Analytics Analyst position should possess a Bachelor’s Degree or a record of accomplishment in statistics, mathematics, computer science, or related disciplines, or equivalent experience. Comprehensive data/business analysis experience, particularly within a financial institution, is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Fabric and Power BI, as well as Tableau for building interactive dashboards, is required. Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases, such as SQL Server, are necessary. The candidate should also have experience migrating legacy transformation processes from Alteryx to Microsoft Fabric, building, scheduling, and monitoring metadata-driven data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows using Fabric Data Factory and Notebooks (PySpark/Spark SQL). Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, along with a good understanding of data modeling, data warehousing concepts, ETL concepts, data governance, data quality, and metadata management, are crucial. High proficiency in MS Office Suite products, specifically Excel and PowerPoint, is expected. Experience with scripting languages, such as Python and VBA, is also important. The candidate should demonstrate strong experience in data inquiry and MI production, as well as optimizing and automating reports while reviewing, evaluating, and summarizing information. Excellent verbal and written English communication skills are mandatory, along with a self-starter, proactive, and collaborative approach to analyzing and solving problems. The ability to organize, multitask, and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines while coping well under pressure is essential. Experience in statistical analytics and data manipulation through scripting languages, with a willingness to learn new languages, is also required.
