Job Overview:
The Associate position is pivotal within the Information Technology division of the EBRD, focusing on the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of the Bank's platforms and software solutions. The role requires a proactive individual who can lead the design and development of EBRD's infrastructure and software solutions, ensuring they align with user needs and business objectives. The Associate will work closely with multi-functional teams and business product owners, providing guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers. The position emphasizes a commitment to engineering excellence, agile methodologies, and a user-centered approach to service delivery. The Associate will also be responsible for promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team, ensuring that technical excellence and quality assurance are embedded in all work processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Associate will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
  • Leading the design and development of software solutions and infrastructure within their value stream.
  • Mentoring and guiding less experienced engineers to foster a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to understand business needs and design optimal engineering architectures.
  • Promoting Agile Ways of Working within the squad and helping to build high-performing teams.
  • Managing the quality of individual work and seeking feedback to ensure team success.
  • Ensuring that engineering activities align with EBRD Cyber and IT security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security-policies" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security policies.
  • Designing, developing, and supporting customizations within the QRE data suite.
  • Interacting with Market Data vendors to resolve issues and ensure data integrity.
  • Utilizing appropriate tooling to track time and effort for efficient work management. 1
  • Ensuring that user needs are at the center of engineering efforts by capturing them in user stories and acceptance criteria.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a degree or demonstrate equivalent professional experience. A proficient understanding of treasury and banking products, as well as market and credit risk measurement techniques, is essential. The ideal candidate should have strong scripting skills in languages such as Perl, Shell, and Python, and experience with ETL processes using Informatica PowerCenter. Familiarity with Oracle, PL/SQL, SQL server, and NoSQL databases is required, along with the ability to manage and maintain test environments. Experience in IT application support and managing QRE data users based on Active Directory groups is also necessary. Awareness of stylesheets and XSLT is desirable, as is experience in producing ICF reports for auditors.

Educational Background:
A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent professional experience may also be considered. Candidates should have a solid foundation in software engineering principles and practices, as well as a strong understanding of the financial services industry.

Experience:
The position requires a significant level of experience in software design and development, particularly within the financial services sector. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in agile environments and leading projects or teams. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and a strong understanding of engineering best practices are essential. The role also requires flexibility for occasional out-of-hours software maintenance and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the working language of the EBRD. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those relevant to the regions in which the EBRD operates, would be considered an asset.

This is a fixed-term contract position with a duration of 2 years. The role is based in London, and the EBRD promotes a flexible working environment, expecting employees to attend the office 50% of their working time.
