Job Overview: The Consultant for Communications Activities will work under the direct supervision of the Communications Coordinator at IOM Brazil. The primary role of the consultant is to support various communications activities, which include researching, creating, and producing content that highlights IOM Brazil's initiatives on social media platforms. The consultant will play a vital role in implementing creative communication strategies and marketing activities that position IOM as a leader in the protection and assistance of migrants. This position requires a proactive approach to developing integrated marketing campaigns that align with the organization's objectives, driving engagement, and enhancing brand visibility. The consultant will also be responsible for identifying key influencers to boost brand awareness and engagement, monitoring discussions related to migration on social media, and providing data-driven recommendations to improve engagement and conversion rates. Overall, the consultant will support IOM Brazil's communications strategy and contribute to the production of communication materials through research and fact-checking, as well as capturing images and videos to support operational processes related to communications.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to: assisting in the development and execution of integrated marketing campaigns across both digital and traditional channels; ensuring that all marketing efforts align with the organization's objectives; driving strategic marketing campaigns and optimizing digital experiences to enhance engagement; identifying key influencers to boost brand awareness; monitoring relevant discussions on social media regarding migration issues; providing data-driven recommendations to improve engagement and conversion rates; supporting the implementation of IOM Brazil's communications strategy; conducting research and fact-checking to produce communication materials; capturing images and videos for communication purposes; staying updated on new design and social media trends; and performing any other duties as may be required by the organization.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to prepare clear and concise products. Expertise in campaign execution, digital marketing, and data-driven decision-making is essential for creating seamless and impactful digital interactions across multiple platforms. Active engagement with social media and staying current with the latest trends in online content is crucial. Knowledge in the field of migration is considered an advantage, as is familiarity with graphic design.
Educational Background: A university degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related fields from an accredited institution is required for this position. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding the principles of effective communication and marketing strategies relevant to the role.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have a solid level of experience in communications and marketing, particularly in executing campaigns and utilizing digital marketing strategies. Candidates should demonstrate a proven track record of creating impactful content and engaging with diverse audiences through various platforms. Experience in the field of migration or related areas will be advantageous, as it will enhance the consultant's ability to relate to the organization's mission and objectives.
Languages: Proficiency in English (working knowledge) and Portuguese is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of Spanish is considered advantageous, as IOM's official languages include English, French, and Spanish. Language proficiency will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
Additional Notes: The position may require travel as part of the consultant's responsibilities. Any offer made to the candidate is subject to funding confirmation, and the appointment will be contingent upon certification of medical fitness, verification of residency, visa, and necessary authorizations by the concerned government, where applicable. IOM provides coverage for consultants against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan (CP) at no cost for the duration of the consultancy. However, IOM does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for non-occupational accidents and illnesses, and consultants are responsible for their own medical insurance for such cases. IOM has a strict zero-tolerance policy regarding conduct that contradicts the aims and objectives of the United Nations and IOM, including issues related to sexual exploitation and abuse, harassment, and discrimination. Additionally, IOM does not charge any fees at any stage of the recruitment process and only accepts applications submitted through the IOM online recruitment system.
