Job Overview:
The internship in the Human Resources Section at ECLAC in Santiago is designed to last for a duration of six months. The intern will be placed in one of three areas of work: Recruitment, Staff Administration, or Staff Development and Performance Management. The role involves assisting in various initiatives and projects under the supervision of the Chief of the Human Resources Section. Interns will gain hands-on experience in HR functions, contributing to the management of ECLAC's Internship Programme, supporting recruitment processes, and engaging in staff administration and development activities. This position is ideal for individuals looking to gain practical experience in a UN environment and develop their skills in human resources management.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will have a diverse set of responsibilities across the three units of the Human Resources Section. In the Recruitment Unit, duties include supporting the management of the Internship Programme, assisting in the recruitment process, maintaining communication channels, organizing documentation, enhancing employer branding, preparing monthly reports, and conducting training workshops. In the Staff Administration Unit, the intern will assist with onboarding and separation activities, update welcome guides, administer surveys, prepare communications, and support special projects. In the Staff Development and Performance Management Unit, responsibilities include preparing training materials, tracking attendance, responding to queries, entering training statistics, supporting the e-learning platform, scheduling videoconferences, and assisting with evaluations and reports. The intern may also be required to perform other duties as assigned by the HR Section.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent), or (b) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher). While professional work experience is not required for this internship, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Candidates must provide proof of their academic status and may need to submit an official certificate later in the application process.

Educational Background:
Candidates should be pursuing or have completed a degree in fields such as Administration, Human Resources, Data Analytics, Communication, or Advertising. The internship is open to students in their final year of a bachelor's degree, master's, or Ph.D. programme, or those who have already completed such programmes. Relevant training or practical experience with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint) is also required.

Experience:
While no professional work experience is required for this internship, candidates should have relevant academic training or practical experience in areas related to human resources or administrative functions. This internship is particularly suited for individuals who are eager to learn and apply their knowledge in a real-world setting within the United Nations framework.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Spanish is required, as these are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of French is considered an asset, but not mandatory. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively in both written and spoken forms in English and Spanish, as these skills will be essential for the internship duties.
