Job Overview:
The consultant will support the finalization of the Micronutrient Survey (MNS) in Tanzania, which is part of the Tanzania Demographic and Health Survey/Malaria Indicator Survey (TDHS/MIS) 202
  • This role involves conducting statistical analysis, producing required outputs, and leading technical reviews of the final report. The MNS aims to generate high-quality data on micronutrient deficiencies among vulnerable populations, which is critical for informing national strategies and policy decisions. The consultant will work closely with technical specialists from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), Tanzania nutrition" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Food and Nutrition Centre (TFNC), and UNICEF to ensure the successful completion of the survey and its outputs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant's duties include guiding the final data analysis of the MNS, reviewing and refining the final report, generating high-quality data visualizations, and facilitating stakeholder workshops. Specific tasks involve completing tabulation of vitamin D data, generating standard errors for key micronutrient indicators, assessing the quality of laboratory data, producing maps and graphical outputs, and ensuring the final report is consistent and accurate. The consultant will also clean and revise the final dataset for official archiving and distribution, and plan workshops to validate the final report with stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Epidemiology, or related fields. They should have at least 10 years of experience in relevant areas, including 5 years in laboratory analyses and knowledge of biomarkers testing techniques. Familiarity with the country’s nutrition context, policies, and prior experience in micronutrient surveys or nutrition surveys is essential. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including writing and public speaking, are also required.

Educational Background:
An advanced degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Epidemiology, or a related field is mandatory for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of nutrition and public health issues, particularly in the context of micronutrient deficiencies.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 10 years of work experience in Nutrition, Public Health, Epidemiology, or related fields. Additionally, candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in laboratory analyses, particularly with biomarkers testing techniques, and prior experience working on TDHS or similar nutrition surveys.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both verbal and written, is mandatory. Proficiency in Kiswahili is considered an added advantage, enhancing communication with local stakeholders and communities.
